Hi. I was just talking to a friend and she was given a cuttlebug as a gift and how good it is. Now I was thinking of getting some type of Sizzix. Can you tell me the pros and cons of both? What kind of prices, I can't spend too much.
My Dh wants me to go to the trailer for a long period of time this summer and this just could be the bribe to get me to go.

I have the Sizzix Sidekick (the small one - will only take dies about 2"x2") and the Cuttlebug and my mom has the Sizzix Big Kick (big one). Out of all of them I would definately pick the Cuttlebug.

The Cuttlebug is small and sort of folds up, but it will take the same dies as the big Sizzix. The best thing for me is it will take any die! So if you see a cute Quickutz die or a sizzix die is on sale you can buy it and know it will work on your machine. It embosses, it cuts, it's small, it's combatable with other systems, it's great!

As far as prices go I'm not sure I can help much. I bought my Cuttlebug on sale and it seems like I paid about $50.

i have a BIG shot and love it, like as mentioned for cuttlebug, the BS can take any brand die cut. It comes with a multi-layer platform to accomodat the different sizes. The only down-side is that it's not as portable as I'd like. so if the cuttlebug is the same but compresses down for travel I'd like that for sure

I have a BIG SHOT and I love it. I use it for scrapbooking and the kids use it for school projects, posters, etc.

LOVE IT!

But I have gotten my moneys worth out of it a million times over, I am hoping to get a cricut someday so I can make bigger letters when I need them.

I have a Cuttlebug and love it. I have used lots of other dies with it including the original sizzix, the sizzlets and quickuts. It is small and compact. I have all my dies in a bin right now. I like cricuts but I can't justify the price and then the need for expensive cartridges. I have been buying dies on ebay for a very reasonable price. Now I just have to find the time to scrapbook and I will be happy.

I have a cuttlebug and really liked it. Then my mom got a Sizzix Big Shot and once I tried that I stopped using my cuttlebug because the big shot is sooo much easier and sturdier. The cuttlebug is made so that when you push down the sides it suctions itself to the table, but the table has to be very clean and a smooth surface. If you're like me my workspace is anything but clean and I'm not always on a smooth surface.

I was thinking the person that started this post was asking about the Cricut vs a non-electric die cutting system. To answer that I had a sizzix about 8 years ago, then had a quickutz, then when the Cricut first came out I got one for Christmas along with lots of my scrappin friends. I used it on one project and that was it. Turns out I'm a non-electric die cutter. The reason being I like knowing exactly what's going to come out everytime and not having to fuss to get it. With the Cricut you can change sizes etc. but for me it took a lot of fussing with the blade height and pressure and making sure the mat was sticky enough. I just want to cut what I want and move on with my project.
