I need tips on cutting vinyl with my cricut. I will be cutting a bunch of letters for a quote. The last time I cut vinyl with my cricut, it didn't cut all the way through the paper backing. What settings should I use to prevent this from happening again?

I am also looking for any tips on getting everything lined up to place on the wall.

Thanks!

When you cut vinyl, do not want to cut the paper backing! I use a 3-3-3 setting on my E and it gives a good kiss cut. Every cricut is different, so your setting may be different. A kiss cut is when the vinyl is cut, but the paper backing is not.

After the cut, then you remove from the paper the vinyl you don't want on the walls. This is called weeding the vinyl.

I then use transfer paper/tape to remove the vinyl from the paper backing. Some folks use painter's tape, others use contact paper, but I like the transfer tape.

You did not say if you were using a cricut with Design Studio or SCAL or MTC to make your large cut.

Here is a website that has lots of info on the different type of vinyls (on the right side of the website is a link):

And this website has a great section on cutting with the Cricut (click the crictu box):

And this website has a great forum on using the SCAL and this post is a great idea on completeing a large cut out:
