Is it still slow even now that security is keeping most non-GCH guests away from that entrance?

At the main entrance, bags are checked prior to opening the gates. Unless things have changed at the DCA entrance, there's nowhere for checked guests to wait so they start checking bags at park open. So that line goes very slowly. At the entrance to DTD they can be checking bags prior to park open. Once the gates open, you're no longer waiting behind people still having bags checked.

Mid July, the line at the DCA entrance was wrapping around and behind White Water Snacks for EMH. I still stand behind going to the main gate at EMH.

That's how it's been when I was there previously (prior to the security changes). Just not worth it.

There was an area at the DCA entrance after the security and before the turnstiles to wait. When we did this a few weeks ago, they did bag check and then 15 or 20 minutes before rope drop they let people into the park and held us there until 10 minutes before RD then they let us go in to the RD area. Really was no big deal and since we wanted to go right to Soarin', we ended up being the first family on the ride!

From past experience, they'll hold you where the Grand's entrance enters Grizzly trail (not letting you on Grizzly Trail). If you come from the esplanade, they hold you just past Carthay.

When we came from the DCA entrance, we were stopped twice. Once was just past the gate (where you get your passes scanned), just before you step onto the walkway that if you go right you get to Grizzly Peak and left takes you towards Buena Vista Street. After we were let into DCA proper, we headed right to Soarin' and we were stopped at the entrance to that attraction by a rope. I *think* that if we had continued we could have gone on to Buena Vista street and joined the rest of the guests who entered through the main gate but since we stopped at Soarin', I'm not 100% sure. I'm also not sure where we could have gotten to had we turned right towards Grizzly Peak.
