Cutting salary at Rocking Roller Coaster

I think that this sort of extra little touch is something Disney does often on many different rides. I remember once as a little kid on the HM in Disneyland that there was a live person all dressed as a host/ghoul in one of the rooms that you enter backwards on the Doombuggy. Scared the bejeebers out of me. I never had it happen before or since.
I REMEMBER THIS!! I must have been about 13 or 14 years old and I SCREAMED MY LUNGS OUT because it scared me so much. Being a So. Cal Girl, I grew up riding those rides and never expected a person to be there. I even remember where the person was because EVERY time I go on the ride now, I always brace myself just in case he's there! :rotfl2:

The same goes for the CM (another "warden" in uniform) that USED to be seen (and heard) standing next to the truck (with "Little Red" inside) at the end of K.Safari and DAK.

I thought that was a nice little detailed touch myself. Never saw the RnR groupie though?

A) Never saw the "roadie"....

B) HAVE seen the game warden in Kilimanjaro Safari. But not since the 1999...

C) The Muppet monster's name is SWEETUMS, not Snookums.

Yah? Well, his close friends on the INSIDE call him Snookums! :goodvibes

Anyway, you can SEE him in a pic at the following link.
(He's on the LEFT.) ;)

I think this is a great thread. I actually posted a thread about this same topic about a year ago. It is hilarious noticing that sometimes Chris is there and sometimes he isn't. Did they add the guy in the video later on when Chris isn't actually in the room?

It is the same as it always has been except no Chris comes out. You see him talk to them in the video, he disappears and then he is back in with the guitar.

My daughter just returned from 2.5 months being a Coaster "roadie", "valet", etc. (Intn'l College Program). Actually there are 13 different positions on Coaster and she did them all.

She just told me that being "Chris" is a task that the computer assigns which is different than filling a position. It doesn't come up very often. This is what she told me:

"I went in the studio with the black les paul, i pretended to play the drums, then when he asked chris to bring it in I got up, grabbed the guitar and left."

So if you ever see a CM do this, you're lucky as it doesn't happen very often!

Sometimes Chris is there, sometimes not. Like madge62 said, it depends if a CM gets it as a task. The CMs at any attraction are trained to know each position of that attraction and they rotate through them. When you sign into the computer, you'll either be assigned to take over a specific position (if it's that CMs time for a break/lunch or to to go home) or to send in a "bump". A bump sends everybody up one in the rotation and the last person returns to the break room to get a new assignment from the computer. If a bump has just recently gone through and no one needs to be bumped out, the computer will give you a task. Could be sweeping up the street, etc. Acting as Chris (or Kris) is a task that you could receive, but picking up the guitar isn't something that's staffed full time. If the attraction is short staffed that day then there won't be a lot of tasks handed out and you might never see Chris.

When I was at AK in May the game warden was there at the end.

And we were there for several days in May this year, and there was no warden at the truck at the end in over a half-dozen Safari rides.
