I took my son for the first time and noticed how they are saving tons of money on this ride. They no longer have the groupie come out from the door and grab the black Les Paul guitar and bring it into the sound room??? Did anyone else notice this little tidbit?

Yeah, about 3 years ago.

Tons of money? Lets see, what is Florida's minimum wage now? $6? Yeah, I can see that adding up to tons of money - over maybe a couple of hundred years. :goodvibes

I'll take a wild guess and say that the OP's phrase of "tons of money" was sarcasm (something I know nothing about, myself ;) )... and that (s)he was actually saying the same thing as YOUR post... that it was a nice "touch" that cost very little $$.

The same goes for the CM (another "warden" in uniform) that USED to be seen (and heard) standing next to the truck (with "Little Red" inside) at the end of K.Safari and DAK.

Now if they could do away with the recorded messages and little red we would be set.

ROBO would be correct with the sarcasm point as what did it really add up to? The 6 buck an hour figure is not to far off and it was a nice touch. I guess they cut 30G and did not really affect anything. I do not remember the warden or just totally overlooked it at AK. Hey, thats at least 60 grand between the two. The groupie was a good touch because he actually looked like the one on the screen with Aerosmith and they had it timed perfect with him talking to them, coming out to get the guitar and then back onto the film giving it to them.I would hate to see it get to the point were they do away with Art, the Captain who salutes at the Beach Club Villas or the Ranger who does the tours at the Wilderness Lodge. Heck I alsmost accounted for 120 thousand already for the pencil pushers behind the scenes..

Sorry Brasey, I didn't catch the tone of your original post.

Yeah, I too miss some of the little things that we used to see at WDW. Little things that really made Disney stand out from other theme parks. Sure Disney is still far ahead in that respect, but we've got the keep the pressure up.

The last time I remember Chris/Kris in the studio was like the first year RocknRoller opened like 7 years ago, so I haven't really noticed this as a cutback, it was just something they realized they didn't need to be paying someone to do, I myself prefer nobody in the studio,it seems cheesy!

The "warden" is actually in one of Travel Channel shows. The one on Animal Kingdom Lodge tomorrow at 12:30 -- they show part of the safari ride -- (it may be another one on AK). Anyway, I remember them showing the "warden" and him saying everything was ok and thinking -- boy that guy wasn't there when I went on the Safari.

It is kind of sad when some of the extra touches are sacrificed due to resource issues (either $$ or people!).

Similarly, I hope they always keep the "monster" (Snookums) who appears "live" in the Muppets 3D theater looking for "BUUUNNNYYY".

They really "have to" keep him, as his audio is recorded as part of the show's soundtrack.
They'd need to re-design that section of the the show to delete that CM job.

Haven't see the 'Les Paul' guy since the first year either, but the 'Bunny Monster' was there this March and every other time we've seen this. Maybe he's got a good agent and had the day off.

We saw that guy not too long ago but he isn't always there. June 2005 was the last time we saw him.

My daughter just returned from 2.5 months being a Coaster "roadie", "valet", etc. (Intn'l College Program). Actually there are 13 different positions on Coaster and she did them all.

She just told me that being "Chris" is a task that the computer assigns which is different than filling a position. It doesn't come up very often. This is what she told me:

"I went in the studio with the black les paul, i pretended to play the drums, then when he asked chris to bring it in I got up, grabbed the guitar and left."

So if you ever see a CM do this, you're lucky as it doesn't happen very often!

Yeah that 120,000 might cover the CEO's country club membership tee times.

I think that this sort of extra little touch is something Disney does often on many different rides. I remember once as a little kid on the HM in Disneyland that there was a live person all dressed as a host/ghoul in one of the rooms that you enter backwards on the Doombuggy. Scared the bejeebers out of me. I never had it happen before or since.

A) Never saw the "roadie"....

B) HAVE seen the game warden in Kilimanjaro Safari. But not since the 1999...

C) The Muppet monster's name is SWEETUMS, not Snookums.
