My kids are asking for several gift cards this year for Christmas. I was trying to think of a cute way to leave them under the tree and I can't come up with anything. I wanted it to be budget friendly as I will be spending some money on the gift cards. Any one have any ideas? Thanks so much for your help!!! :santa:

Buy them each a wallet and put the cards inside the wallet and then wrap that. Then don't make a big deal out of the wallets being the last thing they open. See their faces when they open them and see the cards. ;)

You could also put them hidden in other gifts. Like a pocket shirt - stick a gift card in the pocket. Put one inside a sock, etc. Make sure some boxes have them and some don't, and make sure you write down what cards are in what box and check that they are all found before any wrapping or boxes are thrown out. Makes "plain gifts" more exciting and they'll be searching every package very thoroughly once they catch on :thumbsup2

We've attached gift cards to the insides of other boxes. One year we got a gift card for my DSS and put it inside of a box of his favorite cereal and then wrapped the cereal box inside of two other wrapped boxes.

You could also do a scavenger hunt for them around the house. My mom did that one year for a stereo for me. Built some fun memories for me.

Not sure how old your kids are, but there is a puzzle box I have bought a couple of times for older kids/adults. You stick the gift card in a slot and it winds up in the middle of a clear box, surrounded by a maze which you must work a small bead through to unlock the box. I think I got them at Kohls, and it is really fun(ny) to watch the recipient work to get the card out:lmao: as well as disguising what it is as it shakes and makes the package look larger.

I've done lots of things with gift cards.

for boys - I've decorated 1-quart paint cans (which can be purchased at a low cost). "Altered paint cans" is a thing to search on - should bring up ideas. I literally took grean and read paint chips, and glued them onto the can. And yes - I do give a $0.39 paint can opener.

for giels - keep an eye on the dollar spot at Target - occasionally they'll have fun purses that make great gift card holders.

the $0.50 Christmas stockings (i.e. usually near were ornaments are sold - make great gift card packaging.

One year - and I cannot find the pic I took of this - I got chinese take out boxes, and then decorated the fron with a snowman face, and then filled the opt of the box with the "tissue paper shreds". Also popped ifortune cookies and chopsticks.

And - for girls- bewteen now and Christmas , keep and eye out for Vera Bradley's big sales. The ID holder/coin purse thingies make great GC holders - and are a useful gift as well.

I've done this with adults (and older kids, like 16) who love Starbucks.

I buy a gift card from Starbucks and ask them to give me a grande iced cup with a lid and tissue paper (they have brown/tan-ish wrapping paper), put the tissue paper in the cup, then the gift card, and top it off with the lid.

I used to work at Starbucks and made this for a lot of my customers and they all loved the idea! :thumbsup2

Oh wow! Love this idea! I usually give Starbucks cards as presents for co-workers. Thank you!

I love this idea too! I usually give my Mom Starbucks giftcards every Christmas but usually put them in a stocking.

I've read here on the Dis about using an empty 2 or 3 liter soda bottle - slit open the back under the label then fill with confetti, small treats, gift card, cash, etc. I haven't done it but the pics were cute. I usually tape the gift card to the recipient's favorite candy and place it in a tiny gift bag with tissue and ribbon. You could also scavenge the dollar store for some cute, cheap ideas. Can't beat a buck!

Love the more creative ideas on here though! Hope to hear some more :goodvibes
