My darling:rolleyes: 12 year old daughter has decided she only wants gift cards and texting for Christmas. Since the texting is a no go I was trying to find cute ways to give her the gift cards. Her brother and sister will still be receiving plenty of gifts so I would feel weird if she walked down stairs and just had some gift cards YKWIM?:confused3
Help! Please;)

Last year someone gave me a gift card attached to a little stuffed animal, there was a clear plastic thing in front that held the gift card. I believe the stuffed animal gift card holder was from Target.

My mom always gives my boyfriend and I gift cards wrapped inside of boxes...I guess it is so we still have things to open!!

When my daughter went thru her gift card phase I just put them in boxes of varying sizes and wrapped the box! She could not tell. Sometimes I did boxes inside of boxes! That way she still has something to unwrap, like her siblings!

Last year there was a poster here who posted a pic of what they did. They took a small pink Christmas tree and ties the GC's on it like ornaments. It was super cute :lovestruc

I was told stuffed animals aren't "kewl":confused3 God save me form the teenage years:laughing:

Thanks! So this is a phase:idea: I hope so. It's not as fun!

Would love to see it! Maybe she will post again!:santa:

One of the gals at my office always gets her daughter a new wallet for Christmas and puts the gift cards in there. That wouldn't leave her very much to open though. I like the idea of putting an Itunes card in an empty cd case and wrapping that up, a movie theater gift card taped to some popcorn or candy and wrapped up, put a clothing store gift card in a clothing box wrapped up, and so on for different gift card locations. That way, she'd still have something to open, and she'd get the gift cards in a neat way. :thumbsup2

You can have fun with them, wrap them in large boxes, small boxes, etc. and put other stuff in them like heavy books, rocks, other small boxes, etc. to fool her. Don't have anything that even looks like a gift card--maybe have a few shirts or something that she opens first so she doesn't think she is getting the gift cards.

You can also put the gift cards in a real present. You can buy a t-shirt from Aero and attach the gift card to the shirt, get a small wallet and put the gift cards inside, etc.

These are both great ideas!! Thanks!

I have a mean streak :rolleyes1

I would wrap them inside wrapped packages of socks, undies, bras...you get the drift

ungrateful child may not notice them for a while, grateful child will spot them right away and laugh :rotfl:

I got my sister's family movie theater gift cards last year. I got one of those pop up Christmas cards (Barnes and Nobles has them, I think). The card had a decorated fireplace and a Christmas tree, I put the gift cards inside the pop up card under the tree.

I have seen the stuffed animal gift card holders and various tin boxes in the past few years. I usually use tin boxes when I give gift cards out. Another idea is maybe put the gift card in a mini stocking

I like this idea best. I wouldn't care if she "just wants gift cards." She probably doesn't realize what that means--no gifts to open, just a bunch of plastic on Christmas day.

DS23 likes gift cards too. I put them in various boxes or gift bags and hang them on the tree. I have taped them to a bar of soap or a large Hershey bar, inside the front cover of a Stephen King book, inside socks or boxers, even inside a pair of Nikes! He learned pretty quick to inspect his gifts thoroughly! And it helped him to feel like he got some stuff. His sibs are 7 & 9 years younger, so they like to get stuff rather than gift cards.

I have quite the mean streak too so I love the way you think!!

I would have to look for these at B&N after Halloween!
I remembered the thread and found the pic. I hope the OP doesn't mind me linking it here.

The mini stocking idea sounds like something she would enjoy!

I love the idea of sticking it inside the front cover of a book! She is quite the book worm!

One year my brother got cash from my siter. She taped it to the bottom of a paint can, that she'd filled with sand. It was heavy, and odd shaped and when he got it open he was all confused...then she showed him the bottom.

Have fun!

there are also some puzzles that you can put gift cards in...the recipient has to unlock the puzzle to get the gift card out. It was so fun the first year to see them working hard to get it out. popcorn:: Yeah I have a mean streak too! :rotfl:

We have someone get one every year. Unfortunately it has gotten way too easy and my kids will work together to get it out and then share the gift card...though maybe that's not a bad thing.

here's a link to one we have used

My parents did this for me. I remember how much fun I had with it. They took a punch of one dollar bills and crumbled them up and put them in a box and wrapped it. It was so much fun laying out the money to see how much I had. I know it isn't a gift card, but I thought if you gave any cash.

We always wind up giving at least one gift card each Christmas. One year, we went to our favorite Chinese take-out place and they let us buy a bunch of the little take-out boxes for really cheap. We put each gift card in a box with the shredded paper stuff. Everybody loved them!

Of course, the next year, there were fancy take-out boxes for sale all over the place for the same purpose. :lmao: I think it was the first time we've ever been ahead of a trend!
