Hello all,

I am interested in my Disney wedding having ONLY the "Escape" ceremony, and to cut costs, I will not be holding a reception. Am I allowed to cut the cake at my ceremony, then?

Thank you!!!:earsboy:

Actually, that is how all Escape ceremonies are run.

The cake cutting is generally held at the ceremony location (the only exception being if your ceremony is at the wedding pavilion and then I think the cake cutting is held somewhere at the Grand Floridian).

I was actually wondering if I could hold the cake cutting at my Escape wedding until the dessert party that night and most people said they didn't think that was possible though I haven't asked DFTW yet so who knows.

With regards to this, what then happens to your cake if you dont eat it all? Do Disney send it back to your resort for you??

Yes they box it up and give it to you to take back to your resort. And you definitely won't eat it all. They only serve the bottom layer (unless you request otherwise) and even with a maxed out guest list you won't eat the whole bottom layer.

To be really clear though they'll box it up but they won't send it anywhere for you. You have to take it back with you.

Thanks for letting me know, we def wont eat it all as there will only be 6 of us! So will be taking back with us. Thats fine that they box it up, il let take it back to hotel before we go one for a meal somewhere. Does anyone know how long the cake lasts for? Id prob take some out with us and give away to ppl as we def wont eat it all. :)

We picked at our top layer for about a week—it depends on whether you can keep it refrigerated and your tolerance for stale cake. :teeth: Now when I order cakes at Disney, I bring large food-storage containers to keep/bring them home in.

Since I'm looking at a fireworks cruise, I'm going to ask my planner if I can bring this along on the pontoon boat.
I'm also hiring outside photography & video, so I'm definitely sending cake home with them and also my guests. No sense in letting yummy cake go to waste!

Disney will box up your leftover cake at the end of the Escape cake and Champagne reception and put it in your limo. You can just bring it with you on the cruise.
