This will be our first cruise since there aren't many places around South Dakota to do so. Haven't been out of the four state area and not familiar with customs or customs requirements. What kind of stuff can I legally buy, is there a limit of how much, do I have to pay taxes on it, etc..

Thank you!:earsboy:

The dollar limits were recently raised to $800 per person. I believe everyone over 21 can bring in one liter of alcholic beverages. (Althougth there have been stories of being allowed one per family member). You can't normally bring back live plants or uncooked foods.

I think you're allowed to bring in more liquor (2 or 3 liters per person?) from the US Virgin Islands. But don't worry, they'll let you know all about this on your cruise! If in doubt, check with Guest Services...

DH & I were amazed when we went on the 7-day Eastern cruise last summer and discovered that "clearing customs" at Port Canaveral involved nothing more than tossing our completed and signed customs declaration form in a cardboard box on the way to get our luggage!
