Customized targets/levels on TSMM?

According to "The Imagineering Field Guide to Disney California Adventure" -- talking about TSMM:

"The system offers up simpler targets for those whose results indicate that they need a little help, and more difficult targets for those who have proven themselves to be crack shots. The early target practice gives guests a chance to get ready for the challenge, and then the early results begin to affect the difficulty level."

I've never heard this before! Can anyone who's done it a lot confirm this is correct -- you get different targets to shoot at depending on how good you are? I know different targets are worth higher or lower points, but I didn't know the targets you get are based on skill level.

It's more like how easy it is to get the rings on the objects or for the darts to pop the balloons. What's actually on the screen and the targets you need to hit to get higher targets doesn't change.

Hmmm...so does this mean if I do horrible on the pregame my actual game will be easier? Or will they adjust as the game goes on?
