Customize Wedding Cake

Does any one know how "Customized" you can make your wedding cake? Instead of a top layer, I would like for something to go in between the cakes.

Most cakes I've seen on this board (at least the threads I've read) are your elegant traditional cakes w/ different decore

Any input anyone?

Are you having an intimate or custom wedding?

I'm not really sure what "restrictions" there are (if any) for cakes for custom weddings. My guess is you are paying for it so it is kinda up to you. Although they may have issues because of delivery and set up.

My suggestion would be to send a picture of some cakes you like to your coordinator and ask if they can do it and what the costs would be.

For an intimate wedding, I'm pretty sure that the cost to do something like what you are talking about would be pretty costly. You would essentially be charged the same price as a custom cake (up to as much as $15/per piece or more). I'm not sure it would be worth it for an intimate wedding...just because of the cost.

From what I understand, Disney can customize the cake as much as you want but for a price. Just talk to your planner about what you'd like and see what they can do.

This is true. If you send your planner a photo of what you want, they will have the bakery price it.

Is there such a thing as a Disney website which shows their cakes? I've tried looking at the usual wedding planning website but there's nothing about cakes and how much they are etc.

When you sign your contract, I believe, is when they send you the whole information packet, which has a cd of all their cakes, along with a price sheet. I think if you are a custom, or whatever they're calling it now, you can pretty much have free reign of your design. Mine was based off of 2 or 3 pictures I found on the internet and my planner had the bakery price it out for us and it ended up coming out great!

Thank you for all the information! I haven't been on dis for a little (on vaca) but I'm glad to know that they can work something out! I'm planning on having a cake that has some sort of a fish bowl design (sounds weird) but I'm willing to pay the price to see something magical! =)

Hi! I am having an intimate wedding and I requested a custom cake. I wanted to keep just the 2 tiers such as in the standard intimate cake but wanted it to look like the below picture since we are having a beach/tropical theme:

but with the 'sand castle' cake topper shown in this picture:

per my BEO, the cake upgrade is $100 and the sand castle cake topper somewhere around $180 - $195 (can't remember right now).

We'll see how it turns out!
