Customer Service Rep gave wrong info?

I just looked and all it says is Animal kingdom ldg-WE3/Magic your Way. I am assuming looking at that WE3 may be a code.

Well we can figure out if the CM (cast member) booked you with a discount or not.

When are you going?
How many people?
-Adults - 10 and up
-Kids - 3 to 9
You said the AKL right?
-What room category (example standard, water etc)
Did you add the dining plan?
How many days on your tickets?
-Park hopping?
-Water park and more?
What was the total of your package?

With this information someone here can figure if the CM did or did not book you with a discount.

As some have said being at a Deluxe you might come out cheaper with the 40% code then you would with the free dining code.

Sad to say I doubt that they will honor the free dining if they did indeed give you the 40% offer. I could possibly see them re-booking you with the free dining code even if there are no rooms left for that package. But I would thing that would be about it. I have seen many here say they received misinformation from a CM but did Disney did not honor that seeing there was nothing in writing.

Good luck with Disney. Let us know what happens :)

Hi OP. Sorry this has been frustrating for you and hope it hasn't taken all the excitement away and turned it to aggravation.

If I was you while I was waiting I would be running the numbers myself so I have something to compare. Free dining is easy. Plug in all the rest of you information, tickets and see what the price is without the dining plan. That should be the price with free dining and rack rate price for the room. BTW, I have had my first confirmations come without mention of the dining plan during free dining, but when the detailed package comes (with luggage tags, etc.) it lists out 1TS, 1CS, 1S per person per night.

To see if you have a room discount, plug in a room only reservation for your dates at rack rate. Discount that number by 20%, 30%, and 40% and add the price of tickets and figure $42.00 pp per night for the dining plan.

You should come up with numbers resembling your package quoted by WDW so you can see what you have. Also make sure the CRO didn't add vacation insurance (around $112 or so) if you don't want it as that is the default setting on their screen.

Usually WDW won't let you use multiple discounts, however if the recording has the CM quoting you a price with a room discount and saying that includes free dining and you paid in full at that moment you may be able to keep both. If you didn't pay in full WDW has the right to correct errors and not honor mistakes by either the computer or a CM.

If you need any help with the numbers let me know.

I hope things work out for you!

Thanks for the info! I did pay in full, because I thought it was such a great deal. I even had her repeat the room, base ticket package and free dining plan. So, if Disney can find our taped conversation, I hope they will stick to what they sold me.

I just looked and all it says is Animal kingdom ldg-WE3/Magic your Way. I am assuming looking at that WE3 may be a code.

I looked through most of the codes currently out and I don't see WE3. Here is what I found

ID6 - 8/15 to 10/2 room only.
TD7 - 5/2 to 8/14 room only
SIA - AP holders 8/15 to 10/2 room only
KD5 - AP holders 6/4 to 8/14 room only
FE5 - Florida resident 6/4 to 8/14 room only

NF3 - Value Resorts with free Quick Service Dining
WG7 - Moderate and Deluxe Resorts with free Regular Dining

Disney Visa Free Dining
QD4 - Value Resorts with free Quick Service Dining
WG7 - Moderate Resorts with free Regular Dining
NF4 - Deluxe Resorts with free Regular Dining

QD3 - Kids stay and play free 3/13 to 10/2

WE3 certainly looks like a booking code. As to what it is a code for I don't know. I think maybe you will have a bit more leverage if you can find out what the code is for. If it is a code you are not eligible for then it shows as a mistake on the CM's part and not just your word.

I still don't think they would add dining for free to a package if indeed that package is already discounted. Here is what I would expect Disney to do (from my past experiences and only my opinion)

1. Letting you keep your current package discount regardless of your eligibility for it and allowing you to add dining at your cost.
2. Re-booking you into a free dining package regardless of availiabilty at the AKL for your dates.

Having said that I am assuming your current package is a discounted one. Without you mentioning the dates, number of people and tickets, we can not tell you if its a package at rack rate or discounted.

Keep us informed and Good Luck :)

Somehow and somewhere the reservation went form a free dine res to discounted room rate res.. I am guessing from the OP original post.

First, assuming the OP did not book his reservation on-line. :confused3 (Just wondering if that is why StrwLady could not locate the code.) Do on-line bookings show the code, except on the confirmation? :confused3 I don't recall they do. But I am not hunting for it either.

And when OP spoke to a rep, I could understand being told "Dining plan was free", and when calling back being told "they do not offer this promotion with a discounted room".
That is true. Free dine rooms are not discounted. They are rack rate.

Just wondering if the OP priced various package types, including possibly room only, and just forget or assumed some things. But also wondering if they started out booking on line, then called in and switched for whatever reason to a discounted room rate, assuming they kept what they booked on line (free dine). :confused3 But all a guess on part for what if scenarios. Hard to say and for the tapes to sort it out. Sounds like a misunderstanding.

They would not honor it. The rep. I spoke w/ only had notes of my conversation with the person I booked my trip with. Basically, waiting for them to pull the conversation was a waste of time. Long story short, I cancelled my trip and will be looking at other options. Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry things did not work out for you and you felt you had to cancel your reservation, but I would have been very surprised if they had honored a discounted room and free dining as their policy is no stacking of discounts. Staying at AKL with a discounted room rate of 40% is a better deal than FD , did you do the math to see what % discount they had given you ?

I, too, was given incorrect information when I took advantage of a 40% off code that I had. After giving me a price with the 40% discount, the CM told me that I could also book free dining with that. I asked, "with the 40% discount code?" and she told me that as long as I booked a package, "Yes."

She asked if I wanted it changed to a package but I asked for a price first. This was for a std room at Pop for 6 nights. I was told something like $1,100 but I knew that you could not have two discounts and that $1,100 was not for free dining, 40% on a room, and 2 day park tickets--it was too high, so I told her that I just wanted the 40%. She couldn't understand why I wouldn't want free dining with that.

I also have a premium pkg booked for one night (with a different cm). I booked a tour with this pkg and specifically mentioned that I had this pkg and had to give the confirmation number when booking the tour, and noticed that the charge for the tour showed up on my charge card. When I called about that I was told that it was a common misconception that the tours are free on the premium package, but they are not. I just asked to be transferred to the tours desk where they apologized and said that the charge will be removed.

It seems as if the CMs need a little more training because I have been getting quite a bit of mis-information from them, and it seems as if others have been also. Fortunately, from spending time with the boards here, I know what is going on and wasn't disappointed or anything, but you do have to remain on your toes.

I have to agree with you about the training, I know there is a lot involved with booking reservations since there are so many resorts etc but something as basic as no stacking of discounts geez, but then perhaps they get confusewd since UK are allowed to stack discounts :confused3

In anycase it is just frustrating to say the least.

I agree also. I have been told by CM's that I was receiving great discounts only to find out I was paying rack rates. That's when I learned to run the numbers myself so I know what I am being quoted.

I believe a lot of the mistakes come from the computer system and am not implying the CM's were quoting the wrong information on purpose. The system the TA's and CM's use can be tricky. Many times the higher price rooms will come up as default as will all the ticket options (max days, hopper, water parks, no exp).

It is the job of the WDW Travel Company to sell the highest price they can and therefore get a bigger commission. Just like most people wouldn't buy a car blind I don't think a vacation should be booked blind either.

Once while booking an AP rate, I asked to add the dining plan. I didn't realize it at the time, but the rate quoted was way under what it should have been. I booked the reservation and paid in full right there and then because it was under my budget. The rate was honored according to the terms of agreement because I paid in full. However in the case of the OP it was more of a he said/she said so it would be difficult to argue without the recording.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for the OP and hope they find suitable alternate arrangements.
