Custom T Shirts...Iron on Transfer Brand?

I did 8 shirts and had no difficulty using June Taylor, now my printer doesn't like the June Taylor paper at all. I print on plain paper and the image is fine, on the iron on paper it is streaked. I need to use the light tshirt transfer because my image has some 'blank space' and I want that to be clear, not white. I have it set on plain paper and normal.

Also, I washed the shirts before putting the transfers on, I really don't want to wash them before our trip because I am worried they will come off. Do I really need to?

You are correct, but the only dark paper I can find here is white paper so you have to cut out your image exactly otherwise the white paper will show. I used the light one so that it is clear.

Am I understanding this correctly -- if I use the dark paper, I do not have to reverse or mirror image anything. I can also put this on a light or dark shirt? Is this correct?

Do most people really cut out all images on dark transfer? I am doing a family shirt with several Mickey/Minnie heads on red t-shirts plus castle... it would take so long to cut all those out! I would never get them all lined up correctly!

I did all of mine on light transfer paper because I had words and didn't want a white background.
