Has anyone booked any custom magical gathering events? I am asking because I am traveling with a large group (18) during a busy time (President's week). We wanted to celebrate a big birthday for the ringleader of our group (mom, who is paying for everything). I think we have settled on the Coral Reef for dinner, but we wanted to have everyone seated together and we wanted to arrange for the diver and for the custom menu. Our TA is calling Grand Gatherings Monday morning to look into this....she doesn't have a lot of experience with these things and I don't either. Are these the kind of custom things that the GG people can make happen, or does it have to be something over the top?

Does this sound like something that GG's will handle, or do you think that they will tell me to do it on my own once I can make my ADR's?

I may not be answering your question correctly as I am not sure what a "custom magical gathering" is, but with a group that size, you might consider a private event. We have done breakfast in France at Epcot before the park opened. We are doing breakfast at Boardwalk in the "Attic" our next visit. We have also done a private dinner at GF. You could ask for Whitehall which would be lovely or you could do an outdoor bbq. There are a number of special events you can do! We have even had my 45th birthday at the Great Movie Ride last year, but that was pretty extravagant.

You might also consider a fireworks cruise on the Grand 1 yacht. They will cater appetizers and desserts onboard. It is truly a special evening. The maximum number is 18, but I am thinking it could get a bit crowded...especially if everyone wanted to be on the deck or inside at the same time.

There really are lots of options, but you will have to contact someone with special event planning. PM me and I will give you the number...if you are interested.

I think taking the grand yacht is a perfect Idea. That Melaniee had.

Those sound like some wonderful events! We booked our trip through a travel agent, so is it true that she has to be the one to arrange these events? I thought that I read that there has to be 20 people for a private event - do you know if that is the case? Thanks.

I never ever used a TA and booked everything myself. So if your asking can you book something at Disney without call her I don't see why not.

When I called the Grand Gathering people, they told me that the agent who booked the trip must book all GG events (not ADR's - only GG events)! I wasn't too happy with this, I really like to book everything myself:sad2:

I am to ocd to have anybook anything for me. Soory then I don't know what to tell you if you can't book. It's really werid it's your trip but you can't book. It makes no sense but I guess that's how they do it.
Best of luck to you & have a Magical Trip.:thumbsup2

I know that it is said that 20 is the minimum, but I have never had more than 12! You have to contact someone with group or event planning. You will just get the "runaround" if you try to do it any other way. Now...there will be food minimums and that is why I suggested breakfast. The minimums are lower, but it is just as memorable of a meal. The Grand 1 is always a good choice. I would say you could have 10 comfortably on deck and 8 inside and switch aroound and move about. You could all get cozy outside when the fireworks started!

I will go ahead and pm you my contact for event planning!
