Has anyone ever had a custom watch with the Disney picture of your choice hand painted(?) on the watch face ? I seem to remember the jeweler on Main St. in the MK doing this and possibly another place in MGM . I'm wondering if anyone has ever had one of these watches made for them and what the guidelines or restrictions are for the artwork that can or will be done . Also , what's the price ?

Thanks in advance for any and all help !

I'm remembering the same shops you do, the one on Main St., and at the studios. They have a large book of choices they will create for you. You look through the book and select one. I haven't done this, but have gotten as far as the looking-at-the-book stage. I believe they are $250+. Some nice choices, but I find that with too many Disney watches, the art is nice but you can't really see what time it is:confused:

I had one made for my birthday 4 years ago; it was $350. I still wear it almost every day. I chose the artwork from the book they had. I had it made at World of Disney so I was able to get my Disney Club 10% discount. That took a little bit of the sting out of the price! LOL

I had one of those watches made at MGM, and I treasure it.

They had a book from which I selected my artwork. I chose Mickey and Donald, but they had a zillion designs from which to pick. Then, you choose whether you want the look of a sketch or a full-color piece of art. I went for the sketch in black and blue; I just prefer that look.

After that, you select the band and the bezel. I chose a brown alligator-look band with a gold, Roman bezel. And, since, this was a big family trip, I asked the artist (Jim) to also inscribe "Walt Disney World" and the date along the bottom.

It takes a minimum of four hours to complete the watch, but when it's finished you receive not only the watch but also the sketch or the full-color drawing, signed by the artist.

My watch with the sketch was $200 (plus $12 tax). The watch with full-color art is $350. You can also have the watch and drawing framed and double-matted for an additional cost of $108 if you choose. I wear my watches, so I didn't do that.

I had my watch delivered to the resort, and I was amazed with the quality of the workmanship and the presentation. The sketch and the watch came enclosed in a rigid, black leather tube that snaps closed and is embossed on the outside with a gold Disney signature. Then, the whole thing was placed inside a long white box. Absolutely beautiful!

The watches are also available at Uptown Jewelers in the Magic Kingdom, and from what I understand, the artists will work with you via fax or e-mail if you can't wait till you get to WDW to place your order or just want to buy one as a gift.

Here's the contact information. The info from my receipt is listed first, followed by the info for Uptown Jewelers.

Good luck! I intend to get another watch this December, and I hope you can, too. They're gorgeous! (I'll have to check out the World of Disney for the discount this time. ;) I didn't know they do the watches there. Thanks, DiznEeyore!)

I have a couple of those watches myself, one from WDW and another from Disneyland. I did treasure them for quite some time, but now I'm
wondering if there is any way I could sell these watches since I'm no longer using them (and quite frankly, I could use the money these days).
Only two drawbacks: 1. They both need fresh batteries and possible cleaning; and 2. Both have my initials!!! They are really nice-looking watches otherwise. The one from WDW has Clopin from Hunchback of Notre Dame in dark blue, and the other has Basil and Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective, also in blue. The bezels are both gold (or at least gold-colored), though one of the watches had to have the band replaced, if memory serves me right. (It's been quite a few years.)

I have a picture of the GMD watch, but I don't know how to upload it.

If anyone can help me with this, I'll love you to death. :)

Sounds cool but this thread is 13 years old. Maybe eBay?

Lol, sorry...I didn't even look at the date!:D 13 years old??? That's almost as old as both my watches. But thanks for the reply
and the suggestions...I'll give eBay a shot.

I <3 mine! I collect all things Donald Duck -- had a Donald face and it says, "David's mom" on it. I need a new battery though!
