Custom art requests.

I have seen the artists at a few of the art stores located in the parks and wondered how does one make a request of them. Do you need to come back to the location and pick up the completed work or do they ship it back to your resort (or home if departing soon). Has anyone commissioned work? What is the cost and maybe share what have you had created. It always looks like so much fun and have seen some great custom works completed. Wanted to know more of how this works, what they will create and what are the costs?

Virtually "everyone" is departing home soon at WDW.

Are you referring to the artists who do the character pencil sketches? Just go up and talk to them. They have a portfolio (just a big binder, really) of all of the different sketches that they do. You just select which one you want. They can do them in one or multiple colored pencil, and you can add text if you choose. Price depends on the complexity of the sketch and the add ons you select. We had them do a 3 color sketch of Scrooge McDuck, with a dedication to our DSIL and Scrooge's signature. It was 8x10 and matted. It was delivered to our resort 2-3 days later. This was a couple of years ago at DHS and cost less than $50.

David Doss is an artist whose work is well-represented at Art of Disney and other places in WDW. I contacted him and his wife directly at his studio a year ago and had some of his artwork personalized. Very pleasant folks and easy to work with!

My SIL is trying to purchase the print Summer Magic but having a hard time contacting the artist or store. She would like to purchase and have it shipped
