OK, this is very OCD, but our kids are freaks when it comes to needing a dark room to stay asleep.

Can anyone who has stayed in a cabin comment on the quality/thickness of the curtains in the bedroom? Good blackout curtains? Or paper-thin?

We've previously taped black trash bags over windows on other holidays!!

My kids also sleep best in a very dark room. That bedroom gets very dark and the curtains are pretty thick. I don't know that I'd call them 'black out' thickness, but they are definitely not paper thin. It helps that you're not surrounded by a lot of ambient light at the Fort. So once the sun goes down, it's pretty dark outside. You might want flashlights if you're going to be staying late at the parks.
The only light I can remember coming into the bedroom was from the porch light. There's a door to the outside that enters into the bedroom, and the curtain over that door let a bit of that light through around the edges. That window is small, though, so you should have no problem covering it if that's what you need to do.

Nah, Elvis was supposed to come with us but he played up so much on last year's holiday, we figured we'd leave him home to do the yard work ;)

I'd recommend a couple of clothespins to keep them shut. Sometimes they dont close "fully" and a little light can stream in. Otherwise they are really dark.
