Current weather in WDW & Pool Temps.

I'm sitting here in New York greatly anticipating our trip back home during President's week! As I start thinking about packing I was wondering if anyone is currently at WDW or if they just got back, and if they could tell us how the weather has been? Do we pack for mild weather or has it been cool. Of course we are praying for beautiful sunny weather so we can shake off the cold.

Also, I've heard that the pool temps at Disney are only at 80 degrees now. BRRR..... Have you found the pools to be chilly? 80 degrees is ok in the warmer months, but is very uninviting in the winter months.

I would appreciate any feedback! Thanks in advance for all your help

We went to SSR for two days before our Magic Cruise. We're from Ohio so we were looking for nice toasty warm weather as well. We were there Jan 26, 27 and left on 1/28. Jan 26 arrival was too chilly for us for swimming and our dd age 5 was getting over a cold so we didn't want to chance her getting worse in time for the cruise. So we spent the afternoon at Downtown Disney. Sunny but very chilly.

Next day we planned MK and wore coats the entire day! I'm talking chilly! Next day was checkout but we had a few hours before the bus trip to the cruise. It had warmed up a bit and the sun was finally out to stay. We all went swimming that day and although the pool was warm when you were in it, it's really not that deep and the colder air hitting your shoulders is cold or once you get out. I spent some time in the hot tub.

We were totally not prepared for our clothing, I should have brought warmer clothing for my dd and myself as well. I even thought our cruise weather was cold, our first stop was Key West and it was chilly and rainy but warmed up a little later. I was chilly for most of the cruise as well. I tried to stay in the sun as much as possible and going inside I always had a sweater (the only one I brought) because I thought the cruise interior was cold.

Needless to say we came home Saturday and all this week now I've had a bad cold. Could've been from my dd or the weather conditions.

You're about 3 weeks later, so I hope your weather is much warmer! Have a great time but try to dress in layers.

Can you tell me what Castaway Cay was like? If you didn't go swimming because of possible colds, were others in the water, or was it just too chilly or cloudy to enjoy CC?

We arrived at CC on Friday, Feb 3. Very choppy seas and all excursions were cancelled due to safety reasons. Island was beautiful, and I actually wish we had spent 3-4 days just on CC! I thought the ocean was cold. DD doesn't like to swim in ocean but loved getting her feet wet by the waves as she played in the sand.

Day warmed up as it went on. It was probably our nicest day on the whole cruise. You have to remember on the cruise ship, not only did I find the weather chilly but you have to contend with the wind factor. AT CC, the wind was not so bad as the day went on.

DD wanted to go in her kid's club so she did that for about 2 hours after lunch, we went to the adult beach area. The day had gotten much nicer and warmer. I also found the adult area beach was a lot nicer for the sand and little rocks at the waters edge. It also seemed very shallow for quite a ways out. (I almost thought they should switch and use this beach for the family beach as it is not so windy)

Now don't go entirely by me. I can be a freeze baby at times, and when you live in the North you expect to go South to get some warm weather. This time was just a little disappointing to us that it wasn't quite as warm as we'd like. But even sun or wind conditions affect that. And of course, coming home to a snow blizzard was awful. It reminded us that although the ocean was not ideal for swimming (for me) at least I was still wearing shorts, a tee, and sandals, NOT a parka like I needed back home!

Thanks for the CC information. I'm sort of filing information away to help make a decision about a cruise in January/February next year.

We were recently in WVL (December) and BWV(January) and I found the water temps in the pool and hot tubs to be warm and inviting. The chill was getting out of the water, but if you were lucky and it was a sunny day, the run to the nearest villa entrance wasn't too bad. So, unless the water temps have recently been turned down, I don't think you will be disappointed. I go to WDW to swim, I've always found their pools to be inviting!

Just returned on the 7th.

The weather was all over the place. One day near eighty and rain most of the day. Two days later 62 and sun, sun, sun.

The nights were very cool....sometimes in the 40s I believe....

You need a wide variety of clothing this time of year. Don't forget that even if it is warm during the day being on the numerous boats can be very cool this time of year.

I used my wool shawl at night and it was fine. Also, to those fair skinned people I got burnt on the day it was 62 ...even with sunscreen.

The pools....I didn't use them this time. Noticed lots of kids in SAB on a warmer day (72). But I did use the pools in November and once you're in and moving around the temperature seemed fine to me.

Hi!

We just returned from a trip on 2/7/06 as well. We'd wear long-sleeved shirts and pants in the early morning, short-sleeved t-shirts and pants during the day and needed long-sleeved shirts and jackets at night.

I took my dd (2.5) swimming in the kiddie pool (at BWV) on 2/6/06, and she was fine while in the water but I made sure to cover her up really well when she got out. The wind (although it was light) made it rather chilly for her when she got out. I'd say it was about 70 degrees outside but I'm not sure what the pool water temp was, though.

Thank you for your input so far. It's really helpful to get live information. The weather reports just don't do it for me. From what you guys are telling me, it seems as though the weather is currently all over the place, cool, sunny or rainy. I appreciate all the suggestions about long sleeves in the morning and t-shirts during the day. Thank you so much!

We still have a week before we go (but who's counting?! ), so I would appreciate any weather or pool info this week from anyone who's recently come back. Hopefully it'll warm up some so the kiddies can play in the pool (myself included ).
