Current Virgin Mobile Customers...a few questions

I'd keep trying. I had a bad experience the first time I called, but the next two times, the people I talked to were great! I know YOU know they are not just pay as you go now, but a lot of people who may give you advice(like at the retail store) may not know. That is what I was talking about. I hope I didn't come off as rude, because I didn't mean it that way.:goodvibes

Would knowing whether I could get into my work email(school) work? I don't really use the data, but I could try and see what happens.

Since noone else is answering, maybe start a new thread, something like "Virgin Mobile and Corporate email". You might catch someone's eye who can answer your question.

OP here - I went to the store to look at the different Virgin Mobile phones, and they look pretty good, slide out keyboards, lots of options, etc. The sales person, who can ring up a sale, but knows nothing about the plans for the phones, said to me that I need to look into corporate email and whether it would be an additional charge. So, I am here to ask you, those that use Virgin Mobile phones with the data plan whether there is an extra fee for that. The clerk said you can check google, yahoo, aol, gmail email acccount for free, but if its a work (corporate) email , you may get charged extra.

So, does anyone check their work email and has it been free for you? Like, if you worked for costco, Sears, Disney, etc. and have an email like Johnsmith@coscto.com, were you charged any fees for that corporate email account? I look at all the fine print like the salesman said to do, but see no mention of it.

Thanks all.

Though I do like VM I will say their CS sucks. You can check any email on the unlimited text, web plans. On my phone (lg rumor 2) there's even a button to set up all of your different emails. HTH

If you go over your allottted minutes it automatically goes to 20 cents a minute, which I think is highway robbery.

If you have money on your account, it will draw that down until you run out of money.

If you don't have money on your account it will withdraw from your credit/debit card if you have that set up, or notify you to authorize another credit/debit card payment or use a Top Up card. I have it set up so that I don't have the automatic withdrawal but I can authorize a payment of $10 or $20 or whatever into my account (also used for ringtones, or if you want to add a service like GPS, or buy a game). My 11 year old has the same set up but he doesn't know the password, so he has to come to me and I add the money. If he didn't have a good reason to need more money I'd make him buy a Top Up card with his own money instead.

Another option is to simply start a new month. You can change plans any time, although you lose any minutes you had on your old plan, so if I need more minutes and my plan doesn't start for a few days, one option would be to just begin a new month. From that point on that becomes my "start day".

If you have unlimited text/data and 300 minutes the text/data still work until the end of the month if you use up the minutes.

I love the flexibility for my child. He has 300 minutes but if he goes on vacation with another family and I want to be able to talk every day, I could change that month to 1200 or something. I also love the fact that there's no way for him to run up a huge bill, since he can't use anything that's not already paid for.

Does anyone know if you need any other information besides your phone number when you call VM to have your number ported? I currently have a number with tracfone, but I don't know what other info they may ask for.

You need your account number for the service you're switching from and the password if you need one when you call your current service's customer service. You also need to have a virgin mobile phone and give them the serial number off it, so they can set it up for service. I think everything else they asked for was stuff like address and another phone number they can reach you at.

Just remember not to cancel your current service before you call. If you do, you will lose the ability to port that number. When they switched my service, AT&T canceled my service without me even calling them.

I am having the worst time porting my number from tracfone to VM. VM says the info doesn't match, then I call tracfone and they say there is no info to match. So far, three days, and still no VM service. I may just have to return the phone and be done with it.

I don't know about VM but tracfone CS is awful!!!
If you are still having problem with porting you might try TF's corporate #. Search their site on the bottom of their page, there should be something like contact us or something like that.
DH has TF now and I'm the keeper of the acct. I think if I have to talk to their CS one more time I might go bald.

Good luck!

Does anyone have Virgin Mobile's internet service? I'd love to ditch my cable internet.

Also can you use a phone you already have for their phone service, or do you have to purchase a phone from them? We have Sprint right now and since they use the same service I'm hoping Virgin can support all the same phones Sprint offers.

You can't use Sprint phones; it has to be a VM phone. Doesn't have to be a new one though; you could get one on ebay. I got the ARC which is 19.99 on the VM site. Pretty good for my needs.

I agree that it may be Tracphone CS that is causing problems. Although VM CS is pitiful, I didn't have any trouble with the porting part. I did it twice with two separate CMs. Can you ask the VM CM what info does not match? I know they need your password if you have one for your account. That is NOT the password you use online for your Tracphone account; it's one you use when you call. I never had one, so they didn't need it. I hope it works for you!

Don't get virgin mobile. I had them since I was in eighth grade (im currently a freshmen in college) and I will tell you there customer service is a bunch a B.S. they dont know what they are talking about. There phones wont last you longer then 2 months. I had so many phones with them its not even funny. I say go to another prepaid company.

i have had virgin for at least 6 years. I just swapped to their monthly plan.

I have not attempted to set up any other e-mail functions but when I was on the pay as you go plan there was an additional charge for data but really it was simple. No hidden fee for going to a website.

Hubby transported a number from AT&T to them no problem but to move it to someone else was a nightmare. I was tempted to cancel my service over their cs bs. I do know that a TON of their CS is done over seas so there is a tough language barrier. I know that I am not talking to Bob, rather someone else. Just wish they wouldn't try to hide it.

My son is really tough on phones and other than the one he stepped on, his VM phones have held up well. So far, so good with our service. I had one problem with CS and I basically hung up and called back. The next person was very helpful. Truthfully, I have gotten just as bad CS from AT&T and HP. Outsourcing is just a fact of life these days:confused3
