Current Status of Using Target Gift Card to Buy Disney Card

Hello. In the past I’ve been able to buy Target gift cards during their 10% off special. I then turn around and use those gift cards to buy Disney gift cards and use the Disney cards to pay off my cruise.

I read this summer that Target put a stop to using their gift cards to buy Disney or other gift cards. Can anyone confirm this?

Pretty much the answer is "No, you cannot use a Target Gift Card to purchase a Disney Gift Card".

Sadly OP i am not sure of the Target Policy. My local Target does not have Disney gift cards anymore. I just get mine at Sam's Club and use my Best Buy reward certificates towards Disney Gift Cards. Best Buy does not accept their giftcards towards gift card purchases anymore though.

I found this on the Target site:

Target GiftCards can’t be used to purchase the following:

• American Express, Visa, or Mastercard gift cards or prepaid cards in store or from Target.com
• Specialty gift cards in store or from Target.com, including gift cards for gaming, music and restaurants, such as Xbox and Olive Garden
• Target GiftCards from Target.com

Sounds like the restriction put in effect in 2016 is still valid.

You are correct. Target closed off the ability to purchase Disney GCs with Target GCs earlier this year, both online and in-store.

Can I just say THANK YOU so much for asking this question. I was planning to buy thousands worth during the sale this year to buy Disney GC and had no idea there was restriction. I just check this board every day since we have our first cruise in June and I like seeing the questions. You just saved me a LOT of heartache.

You can still get the 5% off when using a Target Red Card, though (online and in store).
