I’ve always been an aggressive rope dropper… we would park at a Harbor hotel and wait outside security by 6:30 AM. We were always in the first 20-50 guests. We were always THE FIRST on either Rise or Space Mtn - whichever we were going for that day.

Now I’m married (awesome!) and my wife is asking if we can show up a little bit later than that, but still get most of the benefit. We would like to be in the park no later than 8:10.

My plan is to basically skip my “first ride” in the old rope drop itinerary and keep going from ride #2. That way we are still ahead of the wave of crowds.

When should we arrive? Especially considering all the arrival gates are new and probably have slower throughput. Visiting on July 4th. Parking on Harbor, entering from the pedestrian crossing.

We just got back from a 3 day trip. Rope dropped DCA Sat 6/21 and DL Sun 6/22. Arrived at the gate on Harbor at 6:40 on Sat and we were about 25 people back from the gate, arrived at 6:30 on Sun and we were about 10 people back from the gate. Rope dropped RSR on Sat and PP on Sun, we were able to get a front of the line spot at the entrance gates each morning. On Fri 6/20, we arrived at 10:00 am and there was not much of a line at security or the main gate but the low crowd levels of “rope drop” had increased significantly. The new entrance protocol seems faster but they no longer pre-scan the first few guests in line so there is a bit of a delay if you are behind guests who have not had their picture taken yet. It seems like there is a lull in the crowds at security and the gates around 7:30-8:30 in the morning but that can vary day to day.
