Current Promotion Questions

I know that the DVC website currently has a credit of $1280 showing as their promotion for AKV. When I was speaking to my DVC guy yesterday, he offered me a different promotion that made ownership VERY VERY hard to pass up. Am I allowed to say what the promotion was?? Well, I was looking at the 160pt contract and then they offered me 160 matching complimentary points to use over the next 12 months (at SSR only) and then all of my 2008 160pts with no dues on either 2008's pts (which cannot be used prior to May 1, 2009) and then of course it is regular operations after that. No dues until May, no mortgage payment for 90 days, etc etc. Is this a good deal/promotion?? It seemed wonderful to me. We were considering a resale contract of 100pts prior to hearing about this with the payment being about half as much as going through DVC for the 160pts, but having that many points right up front just sounded really appealing. Any advice, what would you do, etc???

This is the same promotion we had when we bought in. The only difference was we also received a $500 gift card at closing.

There are no dues because Kidani isn't open yet, so in May, when it opens, dues will charged.

The bonus points can be used at SSR or exchanged via Interval. The bonus points are effective as of the date of purchase (not closing or use year) and are good for one year (with same restrictions to scheduling requirements).

Your use year will be December, so you will have points credited in December 2008, but cannot be used until May 2009 (even if you decided to use them elsewhere other than Kidani Village). You will then continue to receive your normal point allotment every year thereafter.

Many here say a wait and see approach may be good idea thinking that it is very possible incentives will get even better in upcoming weeks/months because DVC will want to get AKV to the sellout point since they've got sales of BLT going on, and then also the expected upcoming sale of more points at SSR because of THVs. Patience could perhaps have its rewards.
