Current process for food allergies?

Hi, I've been to WDW before and have dealt with them regarding my DD food allergies. This however, was back in the Brenda Bennett days.

With no trip planned, I haven't been following this thread religously, and was hoping someone could help me with the current process to follow regarding food allergies?

I did of course give her allergies while making table service reservations. Do they still want you to fill out the 1 page form with all your dining information? I sent an email to special diets over 1 week ago, but haven't heard anything from them.

Her allergies are tree nuts, shellfish, sesame and peas. If you have any info on current products or tips, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Specifically, does anyone know the current brand of popcorn they are serving in parks? Is there still Divvies? Current brand of hot dog and hamburger buns?

Lots of question. Thanks a lot for helping me get caught up!:)

Since you have 4 allergies then yes you could fill out the form. I'm not actually sure it does any good but they will send it to you to fill out. Since you haven't heard back, I'd email again saying that you expect a response. The days of Brenda Bennett are unfortunately long gone. We all miss her and remember her fondly.

Popcorn is Orville Reddenbakker.

No, Divvies are not available. Allergy cookies are Enjoy Life and OMG It's Gluten Free.

I only know the brand of allergy buns. These are Udi's. People have also reported seeing GNI and the occasional place may still have Ener-G.

While things are definitely very frustrating, especially for those of us who do remember Brenda, I just want to encourage you that WDW is still wonderful. The chefs help make up for the Special Diet department's lack of anything helpful. The CS locations that used to be good for allergies are still the same places and there are still plenty of products available. I'm not sure how the peas will impact her because I'm really not sure how much they're used in the allergy products (many gluten free products have peas) so that's definitely something you'll want to be prepared for. Feel free to ask more questions and we'll try to answer to the best of our abilities.

Oh I miss the days of Brenda Bennett...she was so dedicated and an extraordinary CM! Thanks clanmcculloch for reminding me of her!

That being said, clanmcculloch is right, Disney really is still wonderful with food allergies--imo better than anywhere I've ever encountered outside of the "world." Some of the new procedures and lack of communication has been frustrating, but the chefs at the restaurants will really take care of you.

Enjoy Life products are pretty readily available (Sunshine Seasons has a huge variety of their goodies) and the buns (and most of the bread products) are Udi's with some locations carrying GNI brand and Ener-G (though I haven't encountered Ener-G personally in about a year). I also recently heard from someone on my facebook page that there might be another new bread floating around (but I don't have any more info that that).

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2
