The current Mouse Matters article describes the journey of many frequent WDW guests better than anything I have ever read.Kudos to the author! :thumbsup2 :)

That was one of the best articles I've read in a long time. I was crying I was laughing so hard. Because it was so true. My DH had me print it out so when asked at work by one of these "head shakers" he'll just hand them the article. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I also love that article. I work with several "Brides" always going to Mexico or any place there is a beach. They don't understand why I like going to WDW. I finally told one of them - my vacation to my favorite place and I don't understand why you want to go to a beach, lay out and work on getting skin cancer. :confused3

Great article. We are at WDW on most days when dh has off from work. His coworkers just don't get it. My dh told them that's his 2nd house. A co-worker asked why? His lead technician, said, "because he is THE Mickey Mouse..." and murmered under her breath, "at least he wishes he was." It started something, they didn't hear her murmer, and they are now convinced he has 2 jobs, pharmacist and Mickey Mouse.

This is why I LOVE the boards!! I feel at home :cloud9:
Head Shakers think OH, she is just weird!!

Poor people with no clue

Great article - I printed it out too. I WAS one of these head shakers (The Prisoner!) ... but NO MORE! My husband is The Prisoner too which is why I make all the plans and he NEVER knows any of the $$ -- just plays in the Parks with me and eats on the Dining Plan ... that is when I pry him away from his job!

Why the repeat visits to WDW? Sometimes I am asked that too. Especially since I've began enjoy solo visits to see the Mouse.

Friend: "You are going to WDW ... again? Why?"

Karnak: "For the very same reason that John keeps going fishing, or Mike keeps playing golf."

Friend: "But each fishing trip and each golfing trip is different."

Karnak: "So is each Disney visit. Never the same experiences, and the resort changes often as well. Never a dull minute at Disney."

Enjoy.

This is a great article! DH and I have no children, but we go to DLR (and now WDW) every year. Since we became DVC members, I am hoping to make it more often! :rolleyes1

People at work ask us why we go to Disney for vacation since we have no children .. my answer is that I do and he is 34! :rotfl: Seriously though we go for the experience, the ambiance, and the fun! I haven't found anything that matches the Disney experience.

So my question to them is why wouldn't we go? Disney is more than kids and hot pavement ... I think it is a state of mind. When we are there I feel like I am on :cloud9: and it really is the "Happiest Place on Earth!" and I can't wait to get back!

Cool article!
We live in the burbs of Philly and everyone takes there annual trek to "the shore"for their summer vacation. Not us. We do Disney!! DH and I would rather expose the kids(6&2) to the many adventures of Walt's World rather than sit by the ocean and risk severe sunburn and bury each other in the sand for fun. And those boardwalk rides never seem very safe and its very expensive. I think the average trip to the Jersey shore for a week during the summer costs as much if not more than Disney World.

I just love it!! I have so many headshakers in my life...but I don't feel the need to explain myself anymore. The more headshakers...the less crowds at WDW, right?!?!

Great Article! It describes me to a "T" . I just don't worry what anyone else thinks about our vacations now. :teeth:

I gotta agree with you there!!! We live near Allentown and had stopped going to the Jersey shore a few years ago after an incident that happened, then we started to go to O.C. MD and Assateague. This year we went to WDW for the 1st time...we were bitten by the bug and are now planning our 2nd trip for Dec. 2007. We'd love to go before then but have to save up the $ first! We figure why spend $1500-2000 to go the NJ or MD when we can go to WDW for $2000-2500???

I get the repeat visits thing especially when you have kids... but I do think people are a little bonkers if they deprive themselves of trying out anything else in the world as a result

sorry

No, don't be sorry. It's a great big world with lots to explore. We would actually like to be able to go to WDW a little more than we do, but it's not that doable w/ our budget. In a way, because we have kids, we're a little glad that it's not. WE would love more opportunities to do everything Disney has to offer, but as parents we feel we should expose our daughters to more things in life -- & dare I say, more of the vacationing opportunities out there that aren't quite such a marketing barage. :sunny:

I guess I'm a bit of an enigma by the author's standards. While we do visit WDW every few years as part our our annual pilgrimage to Orlando, and just love it when we do, I'm really sort of a combo repeat visitor/Traveler/Opera Singer.

Because the Traveler in me likes to sample all the Orlando area resorts, we rotate where we stay from year to year so we always have something fresh to enjoy, while still getting to enjoy the old faithful attractions. Likewise, we spend our remaining vacation time during the rest of the year experiencing all the wonderful things the world has to offer outside of Orlando. I must admit I am a head shaker when I encounter folks who exclusively vacation at WDW and WDW alone; I just feel its unfortunate that they miss out on so many other experiences in the world that are equally if not more impressive and magical than WDW.

I also have "Opera Singer" tendencies, but believe that WDW does have offerings of this calibur and many rival what you'd find in other major cities around the world. No headshaking on this one; I think WDW really holds it's own with shows like La Nouba, dining experiences like the sunset safari/chef's table at Jiko, and special events like the Food & Wine fest!

I know what you mean.

Disney is so fun...not like anything else. And I value the info. and shared experience of Dis-ers.

BUT, I also love to explore and try new things. I guess I am the "traveler" referred to in the article.

There's a big and facinating world beyond Disney, and it's important to me for my kids to realize that. There is also something to be said for burying each other in the sand(Bride). And for taking in cultural experiences (Opera Singer). And for being compassionate to people who have less than you (Skeletons).

Just my opinion.

For some reason, in my head this article is being read/narrated by the same voice that does all those Goofy cartoon/ how to's (how to excercise how to remodel) you know the voice i mean that cheesy announcer voice that you here right before Goofy rolls off a ledge in his roller blades ( Yahahahooey) ( I can actaully envision goofy acting out all those head shakers! :rotfl: ) lol....
dont mind me its late and ima bit nutz

I have to agree. What an article! Even though I don't think I really fit the profile :rotfl2: Our 4yo DS is only going for his 4th trip next month.  Not that DW and I havn't gone many times b4. And now as DVC members, even the beach (VB and HH) will be Disney :cool1:
