Current Mouse Matters Article-A "Must-Read" for Frequent WDW Guests

I think our neighbors are beginning to think we are nuts. They usually look after our house when we are on vacation. We were there last Aug., March and then October of this year. We are also planning on going for March break.
I know they must roll their eyes when we tell them we are off to see the Mouse again!

I consider myself a traveler at WDW...I get to see many mountains (Space, Big Thunder, Splash, Everest), I get to visit the Caribbean beaches at my resort, I sail around Tom Sawyer Island, I can eat in 5 or 6 different conutries in one day....so I think of myself as the Traveler, I just happen to do it all at Disney!!

isyne4u, I know you are being clever, and it's funny.

BUT, do people really believe that the only vacation they need/want is Disney?

I love the World Showcase because it reminds me of places I've been or gives me a tiny taste of a place I'd like to go. The "Countries" there are lovely, but a long, long way from an actual trip to Rome or Florence, to the UK, to Paris or Cannes. The few hundred square feet of Canada are no more representative of the majesty of Canada than the American Pavillion is equal to a cross country trip to America's state parks.

I like more of a challenge when I travel than beating crowds or getting an ADR. I like to see real mountains...and swim in a real ocean....and to take a walk in a real forest. I love the "magic" of Disney's imagineers. But if I had to choose between WDW and the real world, I'd take the real world in a heartbeat.

Okay, maybe not in a heartbeat...but at least after a few minutes of painful deliberation.

:rotfl: One of these days I'd like to something like Europe or a Cruise to alaska but right now my kids are young and this makes more sense for us. However, I will say that last summer I took my oldest to St. Louis and this year we went to the mountains of Virginia for Easter. So we do try other places but my heart is at WDW. I live at a beach and I don't go to it so I'm one of those that shakes my head at the folks who only want to lay around in the sun getting sand in their shorts for a week. Disney isn't for everyone to do on a regular basis and I respect that!!

As for the real world....I have enouh problems in the real world...I'd much prefer fantasy to the real world. Unfortunately a lot of my real world problems still follow me to Disney...but at least I can have more fun with them there!!

I am not alone..I am not alone. My family is an AP holder family. We live 90 minutes from WDW and still spend 4-5 vacations there a year.

My DH and I have raised our 2 DSs there and they could anyone a tour of all the parks. People who say "how can you go so often? (and there are plenty)," are not my kind of people. These are the same people who tell their kids that life is like a game. WRONG!!! Life is not a game. Games you get a do-over and rules. Life does not come with a manual or a do-over -- just one shot. Our one shot is Disney.

We regroup, relax and recharge to face the "stuff" that goes on between vacations. From the moment we leave, we start building up the anticipation to the next vacation. It never gets old. It never gets tired. It's Disney.

Great article - I printed it out too. I WAS one of these head shakers (The Prisoner!) ... but NO MORE! My husband is The Prisoner too which is why I make all the plans and he NEVER knows any of the $$ -- just plays in the Parks with me and eats on the Dining Plan ... that is when I pry him away from his job!
Oh, gee. . . this is me and my husband. Yes, yes, yes. . .
I think SECRETLY he really is excited about the whole thing.

That was a great article. Most people I work with just assume I am going to Disney every time I have time off. The thing is in the past few years I guess I have some what turned into the prisoner (not really...LOL) but I haven't taken more than 3 days off in a row (but trust me I like my days off) I am in accounts payables and its hard to take a complete week away. Since Disney World is only 3 hours North its my quick get away trip place. I did have to convert my DH (he was one of those head shakers that thought you HAD to have kids before you went to Disney) but all it took was a 2 night trip at AKL savannah view (see I figured if he didn't like the parks I could leave him in the room and he could watch the animals (we like animals) But he loved the parks so much before we left we were planning another trip, and another and the rest is history. Every trip is different, never the same experience. We do take other vacations (we go to the Florida Keys every November even though that is because we get tickets every year to the NASCAR race in Homestead. But the Keys (Key Largo/Tavernier where we go) are only 2 hours south of us so its again a nice quick trip and I don't have to take too many days off. I get alot of days off (I have been at my company almost 10 years) and I choose to take the days a little at a time that way they spread out throughout the year. We also have traveled to Western NC (where my mom is) and New Mexico (where my DH is from, I am a native Floridian) but at this point in our life Disney is what we like to do.

That was great. I know people who fit those descriptions perfectly! :sad2:

We have many plans for travel outside of WDW, but right now while our kids are very young, WDW is perfect for us!!

I get the repeat visits thing especially when you have kids... but I do think people are a little bonkers if they deprive themselves of trying out anything else in the world as a result

sorry

I was the child of parents who fit the description of : Opera Singer (but on a budget) and Bride...going to New Mexico-Colorado- Arizona evey year for two weeks.
It was a vacation for them... they cared less if us kids had fun. I never went to a theme park untill I was grown and WDW untill I was 26, when DH and I took our dd age 7.
It was sporatic visits since then...a total of 3 over 13 years.
We took the kids to places all over the US too. Now that both girls are grown DH and I travel alot, been to Ireland twice and the Carribean.
Alaksa, California, Washinton State, New England, etc.

But these days the two of us go to WDW far more than any other place... why?
I am still a kid at heart and am making up for lost time..... and when you don't have kids along, you can enjoy a whole other side of WDW, geared to adults.

Even if we didn't go other places, who cares what we do or where we go??? It's our money and our time. It's our life...we decide what is quaility. :thumbsup2

Funny arcticle. This morning we added 3 nights to our vacation. We are starting at AKL then switching to the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes :teeth: ! 10 nights! :teeth: :teeth: We were there in March and May but we also took a trip to Miami and Houston in between. We have also visited D.C., Grand Canyon, all of CA. but, while my Dkids are little, there is no where else I would rather be. DH and I dream of going to Italy and Greece. Plenty of time for that when the Dkids are old enough to enjoy it. Disney has so much to offer. For DH and I love the great dining. Jiko, CAG Blue Zoo are fantastic. The Dkids love them too. Disney is just about fun and family to us. I just bought The luxury guide to WDW. It is fantastic. There is even a shout out to the DISBOARDS! :goodvibes We do Disney often but, we do it in style!! :thumbsup2 ;) :goodvibes
