Anyone have a current menu? The ones online are from Oct and Dec 08

Were just there May 5 & was told menu was changing again on the 6th.

One of the things we love about it is that there is always something new to try (DS14 had ostrich this trip) yet the signature dishes remain (for those of us with less adventurous palettes ;) ) but it is frustrating not being able to keep up with the changes!

For those of you interested in the status of the flatbreads... oven is still broken. Was told estimated repair bill in excess of $85K (that's alot of flatbread :scared1: ). TPTB keep pushing it off until "next month", then "next month", etc...

We ate there on 4/30/09 for our honeymoon and loved it. Yes as previously stated the flatbread are gone, hopefully temporarily. Waitress also said the menu changes weekly if not daily. Always something fresh on the menu.

The menus are printed daily. I agree with others that one of the nice things about CG is that there are always fresh changes.

MinnieGirl33, what is TPTB? $85,000! :scared1:

My entire family is hoping for the return of the flatbreads. :worship:

I hope the food is really good, and I will pray that they have the flatbreads in 3 weeks when we go!

The oven is broken? But it is the same wood fired grill that they use to make their filets, isn't it? We were there in March and were told that the flatbreads were gone because the new chef was changing the menu. I voiced my complaint and asked that the flatbreads be returned to the menu if anyone cared what customers thought. The waitress told us she thought there were a lot of complaints and hopefully the chef would put the flatbreads back on the menu.

There were reports of a fire in March at CG. We dined there in the first week of that month and the flatbreads were still on the menu. I think the fire was shortly after. The filets are grilled not baked. Pizzas and flatbreads need a very hot oven.

People have reported different things but MinnieGirl's is the most detailed report I've seen yet. Let's hope eventually the oven is repaired or replaced. I think CG is as busy as ever but with the economy just starting to recover I can imagine WDW is watching their pennies.

I had seen these reports as well which was why I brought up the subject with our server, first asking how the new chef was working out and discussing his strengths vs. Chef Jens (we are huge fans of Chef Jens & wish him well with his new Exec. Chef position at Epcot).

My follow up to that was, "Are people revolting at the loss of the flatbreads?" There was no hesitation in the response about the oven and absolutely no indication that it was the new Chef's choice.

I think the flatbreads have become a signature item the same as the ravioli & the pork tenderloin, etc. Other chefs have had to keep signature dishes (i.e. someone else's creation) on the menu which makes me more inclined to accept the "broken oven" scenario than the "egotistical chef" scenario. After all, didn't the new guy come from Jiko? And isn't Jiko known for excellent flatbreads as well?

Take it for what it's was worth. You never really know what to believe. I just thought it interesting enough to pass along.

:worship::worship::worship: Oh, Flatbread Gods... :rotfl:

Don't know if it helps or not but I think I remember being told the ostrich was going away but the lamb was coming back as was the softshell crab.

If they are still offering the Lobster Risotto appy I highly recommend it (if you like shellfish, that is).

That's exactly what I said when I complained. I saw when we were on the 2nd floor checking in that the flatbreads were gone. I asked why and where I could complain to get them back. They told me the new chef was making menu changes. Then when we were seated I asked the waitress the same thing. She's the one who added the part about thinking the flatbreads would be back soon based on the guests reaction to having them gone. I pointed out that Jiko had great flatbread and I couldn't believe the Jiko chef would go to CG and elminate flatbreads!

I also mentioned it at Jiko later in that trip to make sure the new chef there didn't any ideas of taking about the coffee bbq chicket flatbread at Jiko!

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I think only a few people really know the real deal for certain. Maybe a combination of both... oven is broken & new chef is in no hurry to push to have it fixed since he's tired of coming up with new flatbread ideas? :confused3:confused3

Only time will tell.

I had walked in the door planning on the ravioli, which I love, but when I saw this I just had to try. I was pleasantly surprised that the flavor of the lobster was not over powered by the creamy cheesiness AND it was a good size portion.

I'll be watching for your dining reviews to see how you make out!

Alright, I was there on May 9th, so here is the menu as of that date (sorry, don't have dessert menu). I'm not typing out the full names, but this should give you an idea:

Sushi:
Yellowfin Tuna Three Ways (awesome!)
Sashimi
Snake in the Grass roll
Medusa roll
Tempura "Malibu" roll
Spicy Kazan roll
California roll
Yoshie's Deluxe Sushi Platter

First course:
Asparagus soup
Asparagus with ham, black garlic vinagrette, and fried egg
Crispy blue point oysters
Asian rock shrimp salad
Duck confit and trofie pasta
Marinated spring vegetable salad
Hearts of romaine
Maine lobster risotto (this was very good!)
Sonoma goat cheese ravioli (this was too!)

Main course:
Filet of beef (best steak ever!)
Pan-roasted pacific halibut
Duo of lamb T-bone
Potato wrapped Coachella artichoke and chevre
Crispy free-range chicken
Wild King Salmon
Seared soft shell crab (Really tasty, but a bit on the salty side)
Seared pork tenderloin

If you have any questions, feel free to ask :) Hope this helps!

Thank you so much Jasperess...that helps ALOT!

When we were there 2 weeks ago, I had forgotten having read about the fire and was surprised not to see the flatbreads on the menu. When we mentioned it to our server, she said that the delay in repairs was due to the "flue" component; she said it had to be specially made because the system was custom to their space. As mentioned, it is hard to know what the real story is.

However, we had a WONDERFUL meal - service was great and all of our food choices were delicious. I had the lobster risotto (excellent), DH had the hearts of romaine salad, we both had the filet, I had a banana desert and DH had the chocolate lava cake. We also had a nice bottle of wine with our entrees. Later, we walked out on the viewing platform just in time to see the Electrical Water Pageant wrapping up its tour. I feel all warm just remembering that night.
