I just received a mailing on current, so called, incentives for add ons.
They are offering nights, is it 4, in a STUDIO:scared1:???
Or an INSIDE STATEROOM on a cruise:scared1::scared1:???

Is there a medicine patch for CLAUSTROPHOBIA?
I think I'll pass.:rolleyes1

Do these incentivized add-ons come with 2010 points (if it's already in the 2011 UY)? Of is this in lieu of those points?

2010 points come with ALL contracts bought direct if you buy while still in the 2010 UY. All contracts bought with June - Dec UY right now will have 2010 points since we are still in 2010 UY for those points. It is not an incentive, the only thing DVD does for you is allows these points to be banked if you are already beyond the banking deadline.

It is better than the nothing that we got when we did an 100 point add on in March of this year.

I get this. I was wondering if you buy a UY that is already into 2011 (as in, April?) would you still get the 2010 points? I thought DVD threw these points in as an incentive even if they were from a closed UY.

DVD doesn't throw anything in. Depending on the UY they will tell you that they are giving you prior year points but in reality, they are your points that you are entitled to.

Is this the same as being offered back dated points? We received 2010 back dated points that we got when we added points while on the Dream in April. What you're saying I guess is that they were giving me points I was entitled to anyways when i bought the contract. We did get to bank them even though our date had past (January).

They paid almost all of our closing costs and discounted the pp cost. The economy is getting stronger so it makes sense that incentives are not as attractive as say 2 years ago.

I see this posted all of the time, but it is not a true statement. The points from the previous year are useless if Disney does not allow you to bank then into the present year. However, they do allow you to bank them so that you get double the points your first year. I bought my contract a few days before April and my contract was an April use year. Obviously, there was no way I could use my points in just a few days, but Disney extended that banking privilege therefore "giving" me those extra points.

Was your UY January or was that your banking deadline Jan.? It would make sense that you have a June UY and your banking deadline was Jan 31st and they let you "bank" the points from 2010.

I have only heard of DVD allowing you to bank points past banking deadline when purchasing and adding on before your next UY came into play. I have not heard of them giving you 2010 points say Jan UY and you buy in April. If you buy before your UY you are buying current year points even if it is 2 days before your current UY starts. I could certainly be wrong but I have not heard of them doing that. When I added on I was told by my guide I needed to purchase before the end of July if I wanted the prior year points since I have a Aug UY, but they would be happy to have them banked for me since my banking deadline had past.

As PP mentioned, DVD does not have to include these points and they only charge you prorated MF's for them (the remaining of the UY, instead of the entire UY). DVD could just not give you the option at all and let those points go to CRO or require you to pay the entire UY's MF's to get them.

Also have to realize they are close to selling out BLT (85% I believe), which is their hot property. Incentives will start going away more and more for WDW resorts so they can keep some inventory with SSR and AKV until they figure out their post-Aulani move.

Question is will they finally start DC or do another WDW resort after Hawaii?

I understand what you are saying, but what Disney gave you for free was the extension of a banking deadline, not extra points.

You were in your 2010 UY when you bought and therefore, entitled to the 2010 UY points for your contract. Granted, the effect for you was having the extra points to use, but its important that new buyers understand they are getting what they are entitled to get when they buy.

Without the exception to the banking deadline, there would be no incentive for anyone to buy or add on a contract in the last four months of a UY and thus the reason Disney allows new points to be banked when purchased.

We just added on more BLT points when we were in Disney last month. We have a June UY. So of course we got '10 points and were allowed to bank them despite being well past our banking deadline. We also did not pay MFs on the '10 points and '11 MFs are prorated. Works for me. :thumbsup2

No, obviously you don't understand. I did not pay MFs on those points, and actually by the time I closed, I was no longer even in that UY. Is this true for every contract? No...but it was true for mine and for alot of others as well. That is why when someone says "Disney is not giving you anything", it is not necessarily true. And even if you are in that current use year when you buy, they are still not charging you full MF's. So, they are giving something up in every purchase.

My thoughts exactly. I'd much rather take the developer's credit than take one of the "free" vacations.

I am glad when we bought our GCV 100 pt add-on that we got a 3 night ocean view stateroom cruise including gratuities! Now we are DCL fans for life and are already booked on our next one so really that was a win-win for Disney too, lol!
