Saw an ad on FB for dvcrentalstore.com that said they were increasing member payouts. For 7-11 month bookings, looks like it's now $19/point for BCV and VGC and $17/point for all the BLT, AKL, RIV, CCV, AUL, and BWV, and $14/point everywhere else and for 0-7 month rentals. Weren't they previously paying $16.50/point for the 0-7 month rentals? Looked across some of the other rental brokers and all of their rates stayed the same. Understand overall WDW demand is down so I suppose it would make sense to decrease rental rates, just surprised (or I guess not really) that they would announce increases to member payouts when in fact it looks to be the opposite.

I never could understand such different amounts for different resorts. to me my points are valuable at all the resorts. Maybe if you only have a couple months left then you have to lower the rate. But we are paying so much in dues right now it's not worth lowering them too much unless I guess you were going to lose thrm..

I’d guess it’s about supply, at 7 months or less anyone w/ points can secure a reservation anywhere there’s availability (except resale owners at Riviera & VDH) thus more potential owners available to rent points out including owners at the behemoths SSR & OKW.
Or competition to get VGC & BC owners to offer their points through DVC rental store, it looks like David’s https://dvcrequest.com pays more everywhere else at $18 for 11 month to 7 month bookings at all resorts except SSR, OKW, HHI, VB and $16 per point for those resorts & for 7 month & less bookings. https://dvcrequest.com/dvc-owners/information.

So Poly, VGF, BRV, OKW, SSR only get $14 even for 11 month bookings?

I can understand VGC getting $19pp being a small resort and high demand. BCV - I think this is probably the most requested rental especially for first timers. Between the point charts, the pool and walkability to 2 parks it’s very attractive. Good luck requesting either at 11 months though. Brokers practically never have the inventory at 11 months...

Could also be the reason BLT AKV RIV CCV AUL BWV are getting $17pp, just not as severe. Inventory not catching up to demand. It’s perpetually already used up by people who last month joined broker waitlist at 11 months.

Here's the text so that there's no confusion on my end (see below). Those resorts weren't listed for the 7-11 month mark.

I actually emailed them yesterday about cost for points at 11 months. They have different prices for different resorts. I was quoted $26 per point for the Poly and $23 for BRV/CCR. To rent points. I think demand to rent points is up, since there is so much talk about how cheap it is now. It's not such a good deal anymore when Disney is offering sometimes up to a 35% discount on villas and you get daily housekeeping and a cancellation policy (refund, not credit). I found renting points at $23 when Disney is offering a 35% discount to be about a $150 difference (of course depending on travel time) for 5 nights. That doesn't make it worthwhile to me, I'd rather pay the $150 and have daily housekeeping and the cancellation policy, it's cheaper than travel insurance!

Yes they charge more than David’s. I believe they get the bookings since they offer cancellations and you don’t have to pay in full up front.

Exactly, that is the reason I considered them over David's. It was the same price for BRV/CCR for both rental agencies, the Poly was more per point at DVC Rental Store.

Same reason I looked into them too! I wanted BC but I think it’s $26 too. My DD said she’d like AKV SV and that’s the same price as David’s. Now to make a decision.

ETA: BC is actually $27 per point.

Good luck! I have to admit, I'm torn. We want a split stay of 5N at the Poly and 5N at either BRV or CCR. We normally just pay cash, never rented. It's a decent rate for the Poly and it's hard to get discounts there. I may use DVC Rental Store for the Poly (I want some type of cancellation policy, a credit is better than losing it all) and then book directly through Disney for the rest of the stay. I'd use DVC Rental Store for their cancellation policy if it's the same price as David's, and you don't have to pay in full up front.

They pay $18 per point for Poly 7-11 months out, but they have for some time so it's not part of/there is no increase for those with this promotion.

Not to mention in the spring the Dining plan incentives come back for cash stays with room and ticket package discounts on top. I rented before I bought a few times because the savings was pretty big.

I priced out a vacation early 2024 for a few nights at Poly and it was about $200 cheaper total and a heck of a lot more headache and with more risk. At these prices I don't think I would have ever rented.

The confirmed reservations are a little more palatable, but if I didn't have an AP you would be way better off getting a vacation package.

During certain times of the year it can be cheaper to book a package with a discount or the dining promo. That’s what makes me apprehensive to rent points. A Disney deal could come out that’s in line with renting points but then I’m locked into the point rental.

I’ve only rented once in 2018 through the boards here and got a great deal. I think I paid $180 a night for BWV at about $17 a point. Other than that I’ve done packages and do like the ease of a package and less risk.

Right now BC would be around $380-450 a night with renting points for the time I’m looking at. (If prices stay about the same next year)

We plan on going in 2025 so I have time to decide.

Yup. I just looked back at our second rental in 2019. We did a confirmed reservation at BWV for 7 nights (November 1 - November 8, 2019). The total for the standard view studio was $1,819 which is about $260/night.

That’s over $23 a point for Standard View. Are you sure it wasn’t Garden/Pool View - that comes out to a clean $17pp.

For Nov 1-7, 2019 BWV standard view 78 points, Garden/Pool and BW Views 107 points.

DVCrentalstore.com now keeps more of the transaction total than they used to. For owners they used to pay $18 for the 7-11 month premium resorts reservations and $16 for nonpremium and <7 months reservations all they time. They also used to charge renters $5 more than what they paid owners. For premium reservations they now charge renters more and pay owners less.

My guess is their market share became dominate enough where felt like they could do it without losing too much business. When the demand side of the curve gets too overloaded they can run limited time promotions like this one to induce more owners to rent their points out.

Other rental brokers - I'm thinking of the other large one specifically - have kept premium payouts to owners at $18/pt and still only charge $23/pt to renters.

They’re making a killing on Poly and BC. BC is $27 a point they’re charging. I believe they can do this since they offer cancellations, payment due 75 days before check in and they offer financing through another vendor.
