I will close on my resale contract next week. We are headed down in a couple of weeks and would like to know what are the current perks for being a DVC owner.

Thanks

Congrats. When you check-in you will get a welcome packet which will also contain a small perks handbook.

Rambler, are you already a DVC member, or is this resale your first DVC Contract?

If it is your first contract, and you still haven't closed, I don't know if you'll be in the DVC Computer system by the time you head down to WDW. You'll need a DVC Membership card to take advantage of most of the perks, you can pick-up a temporary card at the sales office at SSR, but only if your info is completed in the system.

Yes I know by closing on Monday it will be pushing it. We were supposed to have closed on 4/28 but the sellers were late submiting there paperwork. I have expressed my concerns to TSS and Robert assured me we be in the system and told me to go by SSR and pick up the temp. card, but you know how that goes as well. We will keep our fingers crossed everything goes well. Thanks for the advice.

Perks seem to come and go -- the biggest is probably the discount on the annual pass purchase, but don't count on that or any other perk that exists now to continue year after year. Your biggest perk is ownership in a wonderful vacation club program on Disney property.

Personally, I've never really been able to take advantage of the perks.

1) An annual pass doesn't benefit us, but it may you and that's a biggie!
2) Restaurant discounts are usually for lunch. We've only received a discount a few times.
3) DVC members don't get a discount at the Disney store in DTD, but if you have a Disney Visa, they do give discount (10%, I think).
4) Cash discount - every year, my SIL pays cash for weekend nights instead of using her points. As a DVC member, if there is availability, you can get a 25% discount.

Just like with other discounts, the offers associated with being a DVC member are for times when restaurants, attractions, etc. aren't busy. They are trying to get people to come during their slow times.

:welcome: HOME!!!

There are alot of benefits but I think the best is $100 off the annual pass. With the DVC discount if you stay longer than 6 days (longer vacation or multiple trips) it's worth it. I compare the discounts from DVC with the annual pass discounts ( example: mini-golf is 50% off with annual pass), discount in DTD World of Disney store and you can take advantage of the Disney Dining Experience Card which saves 20% off restaurants WITH drinks. I also got my Mickey Monitor Yesterday (passholder publication) and they are running a special for passholders of 15% off your purchase at your local Disney Store from 5/1 - 6/30. When you get your information go to the DVC website and there is a section for Member Perks. Enjoy!
