Just attended the info session on the Disney Dream Cruise, and the current DVC incentives that they printed out (for anyone who is interested) is as follows:

1) $500 VISA card (or shipboard credit if you want)
2) Backdated points (Feb 1, 2011 to UY)
3) Prorated dues (Jan 1, 2011 to Aug 1, 2011 paid dues prorated) - They pay the first 7 months of this 2011 calendar year. This = savings of $936 if buying 320 points (using $5.0143 per point estimate for AKV). Similarly, it would save 1/2 that if bought 160 points.
4) Credit discount per Point:

160p x $8 credit discount per point = $1780 savings (including $500 visa card)
220p x $16 credit discount per point = $4020 savings (including $500 visa card)
320p x $18 credit discount per point = $6260 savings (including $500 visa card)
480p x $18 credit discount per point = $9140 savings (including $500 visa card)

Sorry to be so uninformed....
But I have to ask,
Exactly what do these incentives mean, can you lead me to a linky or something that explains them more.

I appreciate your assistance very much.

Joe

The prorated dues and backdated points are not cruise-specific incentives. Those are available if you buy direct from Disney at any time (depending on the use year chosen and when you are buying.)

What resorts were they pushing and what was the base price for each?

Just to explain to anyone who might not understand. Getting prorated dues is not an incentive.

Disney can not charge you MF"s for a contract prior to owning it. That is why dues start in August. If someone purchases in October, then the MF's would be prorated for 2011 from October on. Dues are billed on a calendar year based on ownership and really has nothing to do with your UY at all.

In terms of the points, Disney ALWAYS gives you points for the current UY when you buy. Since we are in the 2011 UY for February, what you are getting is the points you are entitled to get.

I know it seems like you are getting "extra" because on Feb 1st, less than 6 months from now, you would get another set, but it isn't anything special. The only time someone does not get current UY points is if they are out of them and in those cases, they can't sell you anything because they don't have the points to sell you.

@cbnsoul, @Sandisw-

That's good to know. So in actuality, #1, and #4 are the only real incentives.

They were pushing AKV. Base price was $19,200 for 160 points.

(obviously, can do better thru resell, but this was the current info for direct buying on this cruise for those who were interested)

The incentives also are only valid while on the cruise, (so you better have done your research prior, and don't have much time to think about it, plus some days to cancel if you change your mind after the cruise)... wondering if this is comparable to the incentives that are offered at other DVC locations...??
