Poly is currently $165 per point. Can get resale at other resorts for more than 50% less. I just bought animal kingdom lodge for $75 per point
I try to stay away from giving advice to folks on how to spend their money. My wife and I will only purchase through resale because of these reasons:
1. Price. Save thousands.
2. We want to stay at different places each time. We are not committed to one location. We LOVE Bay Lake but if it's not available at 7 months, we stay at Saratoga. No big deal.
3. We think (our opinion) that using our DVC points for a cruise is foolish. We would rather just pay cash. Pending on each families income level and yearly expenses, this opinion would probably differ.
I believe they are around $160 through Disney. Aulani can be purchased on the dvc-resales.com for around $110-$120. I personally think the resale market is the way to go unless you are absolutely certain you want to stay at Poly every time you go and need that 11 month window. There are no Poly's available in the resale market right now.
I respectfully provide opposing information- there are a number of Poly resales on the market right now. If they want Poly and they are patient, they could certainly pick up a better deal than direct. But unless it was $20 or more per point lower than direct, I'm not sure I would suggest the bother.
I see four on one site alone...not sure if it's one we are allowed to link to. Www.dvdresalemarket.comReally? Where? Sorry. I just checked the main resale site and didn't see anything right away.

We bought both of our contracts through them. Call me loyal.![]()
That's really good for loaded contract. Most of those are over $85 per point.Bought Poly direct and instantly regretted it. Cancelled it 5 days later and purchased at AKV for less than half the price point of the poly with all 2015 and 2016 points still available. still going to stay at the poly next time we go I think. Resale is the way to go! Purchased from the Timeshare store but I really don't think it matters much. as long as you can get a good price. paid $75 a point, which seemed to be cheap for a contract with so many points currently available.

We just paid $75 per point for AKL but no 2015 points but all 2016 and beyondIt was a great price. So great in fact I had to go back and verify. I was wrong, we paid $85 a point.
