Current Conditions at OKW

We spent President's week at OKW and I was a little worried that there might be some "downslide" in service and accommodations. I am very happy to report that, from the experience we had, that's not the case at all. All CMs were fabulous. We got a "Welcome Home" everytime we came in the gate - even at 1AM!!. The Hospitality Center, Olivia's, etc. are in great shape. We rented a boat and the CMs at the docks were wonderful (even after my DH bumped into the dock trying to get the boat out!!).
We stayed on the top floor in a 2-BR in Building 45 and the room looked like it had just been refurbished. Everything was clean and we had everything that were were supposed to have. My only disappointment was that we didn't get the buildings that we had requested (near the quiet pool). I realized, though, that those buildings were being refurbished while we were there.
The food at Olivia's was great as usual and, at times, Olivia's was very crowded.
Probably the best CM was the bus driver who picked up my DS and I who were running to catch the bus to the MK which was at the bus stop. She was on her way to the bus stop and said we would get there quicker if she drove us and that she would signal the bus to wait for us if it started to leave before we got to the stop. I know that's not strictly related to OKW, but we were thrilled at her kindness. We made it to MK and had a fabulous time!!!
So, to me, things look great at OKW and, as always, it was VERY hard to leave. I'm already starting to plan our next trip...

Glad to hear that service at OKW is up to its usual standards. We're off to OKW for 9 days on Monday.

I was worried because I read some things on this forum and on the trip reports forum that suggested that some of the units were showing wear, some of the CMs were not particularly friendly/helpful, and that some of the units were not properly stocked.

I'm speaking for the original poster but I've had a similar experience. You read things on the board that get you crazy and nervous. When you get "home" all is well and you feel a little foolish for worrying.

Friends who got back from an OKW stay (first time -- I set them up in a 1 bedroom) were overwhelmed by the service. They now have the impression that Disney will do just about anything to make a guest happy. I know that when they checked in at night the front desk called to make sure all was well. They mentioned that the outside light was burnt out and maybe someone could tend to it in the morning. They were amazed at how quickly someone appeared with bulbs for both the front & back light since they weren't sure which one it was. I have a feeling they were impressed other times along the way because they are now owners at SSR!

Many people post that WDW as a whole, has gone downhill ,that the CMs are less attenative, the resorts and parks are not kept up to the old standards, etc., etc.. You should read the Resorts board sometimes, it is unbelievable!
All I can say is, I go to WDW a lot and stay in many different resorts and I have yet to see any of them declining in any way! I will admit that I have noticed a decline in the servicing of the restrooms at the parks, but other than that all of WDW is just as great as ever, imo.

I was staying at OKW over President's weekend, with my Mom and Step-Dad, and they were blown away by how friendly and nice everyone was......

We had a problem with the ice maker, and they called someone to fix it, and were having the best time talking and joking with the service guy.

And then I got up late one morning, and missed the MK bus, which I needed to get to GF, so asked OKW luggage staff to please get me a taxi... Was told, Oh, don't do that, we'll drive you over to GF. DD made her pirates cruise, and I gave many thanks, and Big Tip.

I love BCV but still really like for old fashioned friendliness OKW is where its at....
