Sorry I had this info- then my computer crashed and I lost EVERYTHING....

I thought it was to purchase the WPF and More 7 day no expiration, with a savings of $31 per ticket- Adult ticket price is $395.95. But I think that makes the gate price of this ticket more than the gate price of the DVC AP's which is a no-no.

So.....I think it is the 6 day no expiration park hopper at a savings of $23 per adult ticket. Can any of the experts out there confirm? This is our first time so I don't want to make a mistake, want to make sure there is no problem wiht buying no expiration tickets for upgrade. With price increases expected in August I need to get these ordered for our Sept trip.

THANK YOU!!!!!

As of now it is the 6 day PH no experation. The problem is that it may not be the best deal after the price increase.

Confused, but let me see if I can figure this out.

Scenario 1: get UT 5 day no exp PH passes for a $23 savings per adult ticket. Travel in Sept, use one day, then upgrade to a DVC AP. By doing so we get the current (meaning, after price increase) gate price credited towards a current (increased) price DVC AP.

Scenario 2: buy DVC AP's now, before the price increase, get the vouchers nad have activated when we go in Sept. We then save the amount of the price increase, which should be about $20 based on past years.

Am I understanding this correctly? If so, I am thinking it may be in our best interest to just buy the DVC AP's NOW, and avoid all the hassle of upgrading since the savings difference should end up being minimal.

However, anyone in our party not getting an AP would be best served by simply using the UT discount for their park hoppers and buying now, before the price increase.

Thoughts?

If you have a voucher, you still have to go to Guest Services, so the difference in hassle is also minimal. I can tell you though that the savings is likely to be more than minimal. If we had just gone the voucher route, we'd have saved about $60-65 (I don't recall exactly) on our 3 APs (1 child, 2 adults). The UT upgrade route netted us $125 in savings.

So you bought before the price increase and traveled after? Where did the additional savings come from? Sorry to ask but I guess I'm lost!:confused3

Not to hijack, but what in the world are you talking about? We are purchasing AP's as DVC members for the first time this year. 2 adult and 3 child passes. I thought the only discount was through DVC. Is this wrong?

Yes, bought MYW passes before the price increase. They were already discounted off the gate value. Then the gate value went up after August 3rd or 4th. So when I used the MYW passes once, they automatically took on the CURRENT (post price increase) gate value. Then I took that MYW pass to Guest Services and applied it to the purchase of a DVC AP.

You can buy discounted passes with teh mousesavers discount through undercover tourist, then after 1 days' use upgrade them to a DVC AP.
there's a thread on tickets stickied in the Theme Park section of the boards which is very helpful.

You should still get a savings with the UT option. What I am saying is that without knowing what the new ticket prices are The 6 day PH no experation might not net you the best savings.

This is how it works. A DVC AP is valued at 389 plus tax. The 6 day PH no experation is valued at WDW at 367 plus tax. To buy the same ticket through UT is 366.95 with tax and shipping. Use that ticket once to get into park and the upgrade to DVC AP. You pay the difference between the AP and the WDW value of ticket of 23.43 with tax. Your total is 390.38 for a AP that cost 414.29 with tax.

thanks for the explaination...bc even though I knew of the scenario Iwas never able to clearly explain it myself or understand it for that matter...

I believe this is typically the best route. Even thou AP rates will go up, so will the gate prices for the tickets you purchased at a discount. Key being, remember you must use the pass for 1 day before upgrading to an annual pass and upgrade within the 14-day of first use window.

This is our plan now. We plan to get an annual pass in Oct. 2011. I'm watching for announcements about any coming price changes this August and will buy passes last week of July 2010 and hold. That way, we get the value of the price increase in addition to the discount from UT.

I am having a hard time figuring out what pass to get from UT for my 4 year old. I will be upgrading it to a DVC AP. Has anyone figured this out for kids prices vs. the adult ones?
