Current AKV price?

You're right. There are options and we'll seek them out. I think that if it is too many points I'll probably give one or two contracts to my sister and reserve all others for any future children, that is if we are able to have any in the first place.

Just throwing it out there, but if you can't figure out what to do with them at some point, let me give you my phone number. ;)

I would NEVER ask a bunch of DISers for advice on my money. That question was specifically if it was too many to be able to use.

Sounds like you are taking MUCH more offense than I.

Maybe you need to be more clear about what you are asking then, although I never asked you anything about your money. I qualified my remarks by first saying your finances were not my business. People around here talk about things in general, without getting into details. Your personal details are of not interest to me, nor do I care about them. Your retort back was just plain rude and a bit snotty, IMHO.

Again, I apologize for trying to help...

We were actually wondering about 50 point contracts, but thought that they wouldn't allow us to break it into that many. Do you think it will be an issue?

This is not an issue at all!! When we added on my guide did ask me why I would want to split the contracts into 50point contracts. I simply told him it was so I could leave one to each child. So many owners do it and I think the only hesitation he had was because it is more work for him. I wish I knew this before I bought me first contract. Good Luck!!

We have 605 points divided fairly equally into 2 use years, March and August, at OKW and SSR. We have never had a problem trying to use them all up, and have been able to have wonderful family vacations at WDW and DCL, as well as couples time. We have used points for Disney cruises (with banking and borrowing able to book 4 staterooms to take the entire family (16) on a 4-night cruise over Christmas), for Concierge stays (Mauna Lani Bay was awesome!). We have used points to give Graduation and Honeymoon stays as gifts. As we get closer to retirement, we are thinking of adding more as a possible alternative to buying a home in Florida. We're going to have to think fast on that one, as prices go up 6/4. ;) 600 points does seem like a lot, and the MF have to be considered; however, in our case, being somewhat workaholics - we would not have taken all those vacations. Owning the points has forced us (don't want to waste points) to take much needed time for ourselves. And we found out, we actually enjoy that!

Does anyone know if you can still get the $8 per point discount if you purchase 100 points - but in 2 - 50 point contracts? Or do they all have to be on the same contract? I would like to add 100 points and take advantage of this, but would rather have smaller contracts that I can split for the kids at some point down the rode. Anyone?

I agree with Wonka27.
Most Americans live in debt. Wonka27 was showing concern and honesty.
Your reponse was inappropriate.. Sounds as if Wonka 27 might have hit a nerve.
You owe her an apology. Feelings can be hurt with words on a discussion board as easily as in person.

We just purchased 2 (50) point contracts for AKV and still got the $8 discount. I think the prices go up on June 4 and I'm not sure if they are going to be offering the incentive after that date. I'd call soon if you are thinking about it.

If you break your purchase up into smaller point contracts, are they all still the same use year? Or can you chose different use years as well? Heck, can you even CHOSE your use year, or must you take what is offered at the purchase time?

I really like the idea of a few smaller contracts, but don't know how much of a hassle it would be to keep track of points. Any advice/comments on this aspect?

When you add on through Disney, they will only sell you the same Use Year. If you want a different UY, then you would have to purchase a new master contract (minimum 160 points) or buy a resale contract with the new UY you wanted.

If they are all true add-on contracts (sub contracts of your master contract, same UY) it's very easy. They all function like one big contract. You can combine points from multiple add-ons to make a reservation and the banking percentages are calculated on the total number of points across all of the contracts.

Thanks for the info.

If you have one big master contract, yet with two different resorts, how does that work out? If you want the 11 month reservation preference, can you only use the amount of points in the contract for that specific resort, or do your points all "lump together".

If the contracts are for the same resort you can make a reservation at that resort 11 months out using points from both contracts. If the contracts are for different resorts, then you can book as many nights as you can with points from the contract at that resort and then extend the reservation 7 months out using points from the other contract. If you are booking at a resort where you don't own any points, you can combine the points from both contracts 7 months out to make the reservation.
