Has anyone taken the DVC tour onboard recently and can you tell us what the current promotions/incentives for purchasing onboard are?

We will be sailing on the Dream on December 6th and we're planning on purchasing some DVC points. I'm trying to decide if I should wait to find out what the offers onboard are or if we should just purchase now.

All of my points have been direct. Four different contracts. I can’t recommend buying direct now. Resale is the way to go if you want to save $$$$. Do your homework to see what works best for you. You don’t get a few things buying resale now but it’s not worth the $$$$ extra you will be paying.
Enjoy your cruise.

We're only getting 100 direct for the benefits, they're worth it to us. We'll be buying the rest indirect for sure. But for the original 100, we're buying direct. I just wish we had done it a few months ago when the minimum was 75.

they raised the minimum???????
when did they do that?

.

OMG - i just looked it up....it went into effect on september 17th....wow...
we purchased 75 points when we were on board the disney magic in july...
we did it just to be direct...we already were owners by resale..
we had to purchase when we were on the magic as we live overseas so we're not permitted to purchase direct from disney except when we're all together on a disney property, which includes the ships..
the very first thing i did when we boarded was RACED to the DVC desk to tell them to check their inventory as we were going to buy come hell or high water..
and we did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woo hoo..
so glad we did when it was 75...
but i can do the woulda coulda shoulda as well....
we finally realized we wanted DVC about 1 month after they raised the minimum from 25 to 75.....ouch...that really hurt!!
but we're happy we finally took the plunge!!

Let me add its typically best to find your resale contract and then buy your direct contract to match it. Allows you to not be picky with the resale.

No right answer just something I see posted.

The days of DCL having special incentives for DVC contracts are long gone. The incentive is the same amount as on shore, but you get half of it as an onboard credit instead of a reduction in purchase price.

There are no incentives on 100 points at this point. Incentives don't start until ~150+, and only on Riviera and Aulani. Aulani is pretty much a stank value direct given what it can be had for in resale, and the Riviera restrictions need to be seriously considered in any purchase decision.
