I have recently cut my long curly hair to a shoulder length bob (ish) It really only looks good when I straighten it. Otherwise I look like a bobble head.

Is May a humid month? Will I be able to straighten my 'do? Will it stay straight?

Is there a particularly good product to keep my hair flat? HELP!

In the south, about every other day is a humid day! Get yourself a good "anti-humectant" pommade or cream to use before you iron and/or after. Mine stays straight all day. I use the "curl cream" by "bumble and bumble" before drying (even if I'm straightening my hair because curly hair is just dryer by nature). And then before and after ironing I use a small amount of "Brilliantine" by Bumble and Bumble. (I get it from my salon)

If what you bring doesn't work for you, get yourself to the nearest gift shop and treat yourself to a new cute baseball cap!! :thumbsup2

Thanks,

I have the B&B curl cream. I didn't think to use it when I straighten my hair, good tip!!

I'll just pick up the brilliantine and I will be all set! :cool1:

I absolutely love that stuff!! Good luck! And more importantly....have tons of fun!!!;)

I have really curly hair and live in the capital of humidity :rotfl2: I plan on getting it cut a little shorter than normal in the next week or so, that way it'll have a little time to grow out to a "normal" length. :lmao: I'll probably have ball caps on during the days and extra product in it in the evenings to keep it straight. :lmao:

I have found that it is much easier to keep your hair straight during the day than it is at night. Especially if you are outside. The night air just gets more humid and will put a kink in your hair REAL quick!

I'm a huge fan of ponytails and caps, and I have straight hair! :) I'd get a few cute clips for the days that your hair won't cooperate.

I too have really curly hair and I am a big fan of the french braid when I am down there.

Oooh! Anyone who can french braid is my personal hero! Especially if you can do it to your own hair. This is not a skill that I have ever been able to master.:confused3

What ever I do my hair frizzes in the heat in May.

You know that type of frizz-the one where the hair starts frizzing right on top of the straight piece.

I've given up.

Now I have a collection of baseball caps.

I have very wavy/curly hair & we go to WDW for 8 nights/9 days every May.

One word for you - - "ponytail". :thumbsup2

I have a little longer than shoulder length curly hair. I normally keep it straight...when you are at Disney with curly hair you need two things...

Hair elastics and baseball caps. Seriously. The humidity frizzes your hair out to the nth degree and you look like a bad 80's movie. The best pictures I have from my honeymoon are the ones where I have a baseball cap on. The day in AK that I didn't wear a baseball cap...HORRID ugly pictures.

just gotta wear the hats!

My girls (twins, three) have wavy/curly hair - but only when it is humid. Here in IL (especially in the winter), it is just a frizzy mess... :confused3

I was hoping that Disney Magic would make their hair curly and adorable?

Is there any hope?

:lmao: :rotfl2: :scared:

:sad2:

It has been raining here off and on all day. This morning I dutifully flatenned the heck right outta my hair. then I stepped outside. I looked good for about the time it takes me to get to my car from the back door (8 steps) the rest of today I have been pushing a mass of frizz out of my face.

I am determined to beat this frizz! Maybe I will get photopass pictures first thing in the morning when I am at WDW in May, and then let my hiar off its leash ( so to speak).

Thanks for all the tips. I am going to try them all ( except the french braid, I am useless at braiding, just ask DD11 and DD4 ).

My hair so curly that it won't go straight an if I do attempt to make it go straight I end up with an afro or lots an lots of frizz. Never found my hair to be any worse at disney than any other time.

I use ISO Bouncy cream leave in conditioner daily it makes the curls more defined an less frizz most days. Once in awhile I'll use come gel stuff to make it more curly an less frizzy.

At disney in the heat just because hair to hot on my neck I usually end up with a ponytail for part of the day. Not my favorite thing to do with my hair but it keeps me cooler.

BTW hair is almost to my waist when pulled out straight but so curly it hangs to the tops of my shoulders when dry an kinked up..... THAT's very kinky curly hair lol

Oh, see...I don't even bother messing with the rainy weather. If it is raining or has been raining or is about to rain, my hair is going in a ponytail and baseball cap. Especially at Disney because I don't want to have to be paranoid about my frizzy ugly hair when I'm supposed to be having fun.

I have the same kinky curly hair you do!! I ALWAYS keep mine in a ponytail...not because I like to, but at least it is semi-under control 80% of the time. I use to try to straighten it and it jsut became puffier and fluffier.

What is this ISO Bounce cream and where do I get it? I've been using gel that I mix with a silicon anti-frizz (Frizz-Ease I think) but that doesn't help the front part of my hair. I've actually been stressing about how my hair will look at WDW in the pictures LOL!

My hair is about 5 inches past my shoulders pulled out, but normally it curls up into a 2 inch ponytail ball. <sigh>
