Curious, why no 40% off in May?

I'm curious....

Just wondering if anyone has an opinion as to why the recent 40% off rate that some have received does not include May dates?

I thought May would be a time where they would want to try to attract a few more visitors?

:confused3

Three things that I can think of are

1. Flower and Garden at Epcot brings crowds
2. Mother's Day is busy
3. People start to come at the end of May for Gay Days?

I think the crowds begin to build overall in May. We get out of school May 22 this year, so there are many people that get out of school toward the end of May. It used to be in the US that schools got out in May so kids could help with the harvest. It moved from the south to the north so the further south you lived the earlier you got out of school. With that logic and the fact that I am in the middle of the country, my guess is 1/3 to almost 1/2 the country gets out before June.

I have just heard over the years that May is not a very good discount time.

They only offer discounts to fill rooms. They have no problem filling rooms in May. This timeframe is not considered their slow times, nor are they considered their wonderful weeks of disney. If you notice from mid-April until the beginning of August are not part of the WWoD. We go late April early May every years for 2 weeks and find the crowd level moderate most of the time, the resorts are busy too along with the parks. I find the crowds manageable, but the weather is perfect. We most likely will see a package discount, AP and Fl resident discounts. As for general public codes, those are hard to predict as we've not seen any released for January or February and both of those months tend to be lighter in regard to crowds/attendance.

they offered the 40% last year, I was there May 31-June6 Which was the week of Gay Days, Star Wars, AND flower and garden show.. Yes I got hit with ALL three events in one weekend! It really wasn't that crowded, the worst was MK for gays days.

We keep flippping our decision about our vacation dates between either April 5-13 or May 3-11. Trying to figure out when the parks will be less busy, and when we may get a code for a better deal. We are travelling with a 2 yr old so shorter line-ups would be great. When are MK gay days - if its going to be very crowded I will want to avoid that time frame as well.

I always make it a point to check www.gaydays.com and www.varsity.com whenever I plan a trip in the spring and early summer. Gaydays is usually the first weekend of june. I usually dont plan a trip in the early summer because of this.

Without having to worry about kids in school I would say early April. Weather should be nice and you dont have to worry about crowds that build in summer.

Easter is March 28th this year.. is the first week of April going to be bad because of this? I'm pretty nervous? What about Spring Break? when does that usually happen? :confused3

Maybe they're waiting...or at least that's what I'm hoping. We went last year and used the 40% code. I think the dates were good for May 28-June 2nd. I'm crossing my fingers for another discount or at least free park hopper and water parks.

Does anyone remember when the 40% code was released last year? I was thinking it was later than this.

Last year's 40 % off code was about this time actually..

And included (as noted) the last week of May first week of June.

Fewer dates overall were offered this year.

Yuck! Not what I wanted to hear. Maybe there's still a chance for the free ticket upgrade.
