A dedicated or lock-off studio, and why?

I prefer a dedicated when with the kids. If we are with friends or extended family, I like them to have their own fridge.

I prefer the dedicated studios. There is no connecting interior door to a 1 bedroom and so I think they are quieter. (On one trip we had a lock off 1 bedroom and the children in the connecting studio next door kept pounding on the connecting door and trying to open it. I had to go and knock on the door and talk to the oblivious parents to get it to stop).

At the BWV, the dedicated studios seem a bit larger and thy have a small parson's bench that the lock offs do not have. Haven't stayed in a studio anywhere else, so can't tell you how they may differ at other resorts.

FWIW, I think the previous two posters are thinking of lock off or dedicated two bedroom units.

Other than maybe at BWV, it really doesn't matter much to us. I don't see enough difference in them to make it worth fooling with. I certainly wouldn't cloud other requests by adding something so minor into the mix.

I agree that at BWV it's better to have dedicated so that you have the bench, nice to throw stuff on plus it's more quiet since the lockoff door is right across from the pullout sofa.

I had a lockoff studio at AKV Kidani in June and it didn't make a big difference because the lockoff door is across from the bathroom.

LOL - yes I was.

As for staying in a studio, yes, I would prefer a dedicated. I don't know why, but even at hotels, I am annoyed by the connecting door between the rooms. It's an aesthetic thing really.

I am relatively new to these boards and DVC, but what I've read thus far, I haven't seen any mention of dedicated studios except at BWV. Do any of the other resorts have them?

There is definitely a noise factor with the connecting door. Noise comes through louder through the door than a full wall.

I had a dedicated studio at AKV Jambo & BCV.

Dedicated. That way the kids in the one bedroom next to you can't keep trying to open the door!

Definately prefer dedicated, but I have never requested such. We have had about 1/2 and 1/2 dedicated and lock-off. Dedicated are most certainly quieter.

Doesn't matter to us,we actually found the recessed area where the door is to be a great place to stack our empty luggage:thumbsup2

I vote for dedicated 2-bedroom. We can use the extra closet space. The boys travel with their golf clubs and this is a great place to store them.

dedicated - it is quieter and you generally get more room with a dedicated.

OKW, BLT do not have dedicated studio

bwv, bcv, vwl, akv have dedicated studios

not sure about SSR

Thanks for all the opinions. I was mainly trying to figure out how much difference there was. It seems that the biggest is the noise factor, not that there is more room.
