Saw this on a tree at AK and thought it was curious:

Everest Tag on Tree

It was in the smoking area off the path between Africa and Asia. Think this tree is bound for Everest? Isn't that odd?

These tags notate trees that are in the path of the construction that Horticulture wishes to save/ relocate for future use, instead of just getting ripped out or bulldozed under.

So it sounds like this tree is in an area that will be rebuilt to accomodate E:E or at least walkways to support E:E traffic... what about the possibly even odder notation "WDI PROJECT: HKDL?" At first blush, one might think that sounds like Hong Kong Disneyland...

We were at BB last Tuesday, and from the tower of HK, we could see the construction site of E:E. They were burning something, like they were clearing brush. We thought it was strange they would do this during park hours, but it was a definate controlled fire!

Well ... if they have to burn at some point, it probably causes less of a distraction to burn during the day. At night, you'd have people only able to see the fire itself, and not be able to discern that it's a controlled burn. With brush fires so common here in the past, that would cause far more anxiety, I'd think.

:earsboy:

I doubt very much that they were burning trees or brush in order to clear the ground for Everest. It must have been an naturally-occuring fire. They wouldn't do this on purpose. I know, because they told me stuff like this is wrong during my trip down Kali river rapids. Using fire to clear natural growth will lead to ecological disaster!!!

Well, I don't know what was being burned for sure, but there was definately heavy (working) machinery nearby, and you could see the walls around the site. Every so often we'd see large flames shoot out and then smoke. Maybe it was something to do with the actual construction, but I definately know I was seeing fire!

uhh dude, there putting a cement mountain there... i think ecological disaster already happened.

I'm sorry, my post was a weak attempt at humor. (I was taking a jab at Disney for not living up to their overly-dramatic ecological tale told on the Kali ride.) I'll stick to my day job.

morphi....

Not that it matters - but I thought it was funny!
