I wish the bands could be use to locate kids anywhere on the ship. I think it would be a good way to help locate a lost child. We took dd on her first cruise when she was 6 yrs old. I always tried my best to make sure I was holding her hand anytime we were in a crowd on the ship. We told her if she should get separated from us to go to the kids club and they would call us to get her since they can get the info from the band, thankfully we've never had to do that. My fear was that she'd get on/off a crowded elevator without us.
If something like that were to happen, you would contact GS right away and the crew would be on the lookout for the child using facial recognition tied to your KTTWC photos. Those pictures taken in the terminal are tied to your KTTWC coding and everytime you make a purchase, tap off or onto the ship etc, your photo comes up. They have cameras everywhere on the ship, elevators, shops, hallways, etc.
The bands, at least on some of the ships, can track where your kids were in the clubs too. QUOTE]
Fixed your post. I have to say that many times the say your child "...is in..." and by the time you get to that spot they have moved and the search begins.![]()

Yep we lost our then 3 year old on the Wonder years ago. We were waiting for the elevator, it came, my husband dropped something, I turned around to help him grab it, and in the blink of an eye the elevator closed and my son was off. We ran up the stairs and when it opened he wasn’t on it. We figured out later that we must have looked like a cartoon where he kept getting on and off elevators just before/after we got to that floor. We saw an officer when we hit the 3rd floor and he put out a call on the wavephones and every CM including stateroom host got a message to be on the lookout.
The whole thing lasted maybe 5 minutes although it felt like an eternity. He was found by a stateroom host on a different floor. He was looking for Emir our stateroom host. He thought it was great fun until he saw that we were upset. We laugh now and joke about holding hands on the elevator (he’s a tween now), but man nothing gets your heart going like losing your kid.
Absolutely...the photo you take as a family in the terminal is put on your KTTWC and then individualized per person when that card is run. Especially when boarding and leaving the ship. You each tap the card to do so and you are each pictured from that terminal photoIf I remember correctly, when picking up kids in the kids club, they ask who you're picking up, and/or scan the parent's KTTWw card. Then your picture comes up which is connected to the kid in the club. Then when you find your kid (hiding in some random corner of the club), they scan their band, you give the password and then you're both let out the gate. So, essentially your kid's picture/account/band is tied to your KTTW and photo as well.

Not everyone takes the family photo.
I do get my royal and Disney cruises a little blurry, but I think they take individual photos at checkin in the terminal.
It was once individual..but the past several cruises since September last year, they take a family shot and then put the photos to the appropriate person. I guess they have a great program for that now. I do recall when it was individual photos though.
ETA...I did not mean the family photo once you pass the terminal and before you board. I meant at the check in window in the terminal when they issue KTTWC. We never have our photo taken before boarding.
I don’t think this is consistent. In December my daughters picture (for her first cruise) was take with just me and they haven’t updated my husband’s picture in 8 years...we laugh when we go on and off the ship because the pic that pops up is him with way more hair. They didn’t retake my son’s picture this past year either.
