Curious about Purchasing at Multiple Resorts

Why have those of you that have purchased at multiple locations done so? Is it for investment/re-sale or do you want the flexibility of staying at different resorts? Just Curious.

It's not just for the flexibility of staying at different resorts. Someone can own at one resort and have that flexibility, subject to availability at the 7 month window.

Ah...but there's the reason. Some resorts are a challenge to book at the 7 month mark for certain times of the year, or for certain view classifications or villa types.

Owning at multiple resorts gives an owner home resort booking advantage at multiple resorts. You can only use the home resort's points to book at 11 months (can't use other points from other resorts at that time), but for shorter trips or with banking and borrowing you can creatively use the multiple home resort advantage to give you the best chance to stay exactly where you'd like in the type of villa you'd like.

DGP's here, and we also bought at different resorts for the flexibility to be able to book the sort of accomodations for our large family/friend vacations we will need at 11 months out.

We have our favorite resorts, but there isn't one that we always want to stay at, so owning at different resorts is just right for us.

My original purchase was at VWL. Loved it, until we stayed at BCV. So we added on there. Now we mostly stay at BCV, using VWL points at the 7 month window. I thought of selling VWL, but some day in the future (not yet please) I hope to have grandkids and the VWL points will come in handy for the proximity to MK.

We own at AKV for our spring trip, BWV for October F&W festival and VWL for December trips. I book at 11 months and never have to worry about getting the resort that I want.

We (someday!) are going to buy points at VWL, we love that resort and want home advantage there too.

That stinks (although I guess it akes sense). So you are saying in order to combine your points you must wait until the 7 month window. But by then you are taking your chances as to what will still be available. Hmmm what to do.

I was thinking about calling MS and asking them about this type of scenario. My guess is that if you own mulitple sites, it is OK to combine all those points for a DCL or ABD trip.
