Hi all,

Just wondering if there are HA GV's. We're planning a trip for which a GV would be great, but one of our party would be in a wheelchair. Obviously, the second floor would not be accessible, but would the ground floor, if they stayed in the master suite?

Thanks!

At BWV, some of the GV's are on one floor - we stayed in one and it was great - however, if I recall correctly none of the bathrooms were HA - I think it was room 4047

Cheers

Yes, there are handicap villas at OKW in the newest units. I believe they are the 6100, 6200, and 6300. They all have elevators. I am sure of this as we were assigned one about three years ago. It has a roll in shower in the master bedroom bath as well a regular shower in what is normally the half bath for the lower level.

OKW has a ground floor accessible GV in building 48. I don't know if it is fully HCA (I assume it is though since it's the only ground floor GV at the resort).

Of the three buildings at OKW that have elevators (62,63,64), only building 63 has any GV's (2). I don't know the extent of the HC amenities in those GV's either. Thus, there are three GV's at OKW that are accessible- all others are accessed only by stairways leading to the second floor entrance to the main level of the GV. None of the second level rooms in the GV's are accessible from the outside- even in building 63.

At SSR, all GV's are accessible (I don't know how many have full HC capabilities) and even the second level of each GV at SSR has elevator access.

Enjoy!

We stayed in a HA GV at OKW in 1/04. It was one of the new buildings with an elevator. The unit was on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The master suite had a roll in shower with flip down seat. The second floor was not accessible by wheelchair.

At SSR the GVs are on two floors, please understand that the elevators are not within the villas. You will have to go out the door, down the hall, and get on the elevator to change floors. I don't recall seeing a roll-in shower in the GV we toured last month. I do know the guide who toured us said that they had H/C GVs, but she didn't indicate that the one we were in was or that they all were.

Wow, thanks everyone! I can't imagine we'll be able to get one, but we're going to try!

Alexander - are you saying there is outside access from the upper level of the Grand Viilla (where the 2 bedrooms are at) as well as the main entrance on the main level with the Living Room, Kitchen and the Master Bedroom??
Just curious since we will be staying in a GV at SSR next December.

Thanks.

jghra, The second floor of the SSR GV does have a door to the outside hallway. All SSR GV'S have these doors. I recently booked at H/A GV at SSR and was told that because I needed a H/A villa it would be confirmed. MS calls special request's while you are on the phone with them. Confirmed only if there are any left when you call. I called day by day at MS suggestion. I had the choice of roll in shower or tub with grab bars. I had other question's so I was transfered to a different number, quaility ?. I was then told that every 4 buildings at SSR would have a H/A unit. I'm still waiting for a call back as to the dimensions so I can get a wheeled shower chair to fit the roll in. My understanding is that the showers have a fold up transfer bench, this won't work for my son. I was also told by MS that the upstairs bathrooms would each have a tub not roll in shower. I'm hoping that's true for the guest's going with us. They will have small children and would prefer the smaller tub. Susan
