You can try a solution of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. Drip a little in there to clean things up. It acts as an antiseptic. Don't put qtips, keys, bobbie pins or anything else in there. You don't want a torn eardrum(trust me on this.)
I have it chronically. Go to a good ENT. But for now cortizone works pretty good for a while. My ENT told me to keep it dry no matter what. Mine is caused by allergy btw.
Oh and my PSA for the day:
Do not, I repeat DO NOT put a q-tip down there unless you like your ear swelling up the size of your face and spending the first nice spring day in the ER hooked up to an antibiotic IV...I'm just sayin' (I know I should have known better lol)

I was going to recommend Benadryl as well. When my allergies really flare, I get itchy ears, itchy roof of my mouth, itchy throat...you get the picture. Benadryl always helps with the itching, plus it knocks me out so I get a good night's sleep.
