Curbing the Negativity

LOL, thank you. I mean, seriously !?!?!

Agree with you 100%.

The type of responses are so condecending and off topic when folks express concerns, shortcomings, or report back with experiences about FP+ that do not fall into the Disney party line. In no particular order:

a) It is still undergoing testing. You have to wait to give a real opinion.
b) If you don't like it, then do not visit.
c) IF what you said is true (like of course the person is lying about their trip)
d) Most people do not tour like that.
e) You should just be thankful you are alive and healthy and get to go to Disney.
f) Now you don't have to run (who runs?) to use FP
g) You should stay on-site (like everybody can afford to do that).
h) We are not really attraction people (okay).
i) You should just be thankful that you can afford to go to Disney.
j) Lots of people do not even know about FP.
k) We never use FP.
l) Why does someone want to experience an attraction more than once.
m) We will be back next year.
n) We don't mind waiting in long lines.
o) It gives you the opportunity to spend time with your family waiting in line.
p) We get to sleep in now so it is not an issue with us.
q) We go during the less busy times so we are not affected.
r) I am sure that Disney would not do something bad for any of us.
s) You are just being negative.
t) The system before was not fair to us because we couldn't pick our times.
u) Nobody call pull that many FPs.
v) Why does anyone need that many FPs?
w) We are just happy to sit on a bench and people watch.
x) We are fine just being at Disney.
y) Disney is a business.
z) It gives everybody a chance at FP+s (ignoring the non-resort guests, AP holders, tiering, etc.)
1) You should just have a positive attitude.

I am being completely honest that I have seen all of the above responses being thrown out by various DIS folk as real responses to why FP+ is a good thing.

But back to the OPs point.

The most important reason that people who have taken issue with FP+ and its impacts on their families...........

we are just mean spirited people. Well, okay then, you got us all figured out.

I usually just lurk on the boards but this list is exactly the things that I have seen being tossed out as a response to people who are dreading FP+ or have had negative experiences with it. It was so classic that I had to respond.:rotfl2:

That's the problem. Most people don't see the bright side because there isn't one. Sure, the MM technology is cool, and as I've said several times, if it were used and Fastpass was left alone, nobody would have a word to say about it.

I get what you're saying, but you need to understand, you're in the minority in terms of how you tour the park. And you're also going off the system not fully into place with all the restrictions that are coming. Once it is tiered, and regular FP's are gone, and you can't use FP in more than 1 park in the same day, you'll probably have a difference of opinion.

It's just not one of those situations where you can say "Hey, you're at Disney. It's great no matter what!!" I used to feel that way, and I really try not to be negative, but FP+ is just such a crappy downgrade for the way we (and most families) tour the parks, there's just no silver lining to this one.
I don't think the jury is out yet on tiered and only past pass plus. Lets face it WDW has grown from the MK to what it is now and they are looking at the future and how to expedite the average experience with todays technology.
WDW is at heart a money making capitalist operation. They will figure out a way that all you have to do is PAY and you'll get more than 3 tiered passes a day. I guarantee you that. They already have all kinds of perks for the monied up guest..things that you and I can never afford. Its life.

The more I think about this the more I realize these posts are NOT about people's attitudes. There are both positive (glass half full) and negative (glass half empty) people in the world. That much is true but when it comes to FP+ the people who like it and people who don't like it are waaaaay more influenced by their experiences than by their personality traits.

The relaxed, sleep in, travel in off peak times, don't really use FP person likes FP+ because with FP+ they are getting more than what they are used to getting. To them it is an upgrade.

The super planner, rope dropper, uber FP user, mulitple ride rider (like me) does not like FP+ because compared to what they are used to doing/getting/riding FP+ gives them less. It is a big down grade.

I am a glass half full type, but I don't like downgrades!

It has nothing to do with a my personality or attitude and everything to do with my past experiences.
Wow I can see your point. I'm most certainly in the first category! And so my recent visit was extraordinary in its simplicity and joy. No lines at all anywhere.
Plenty of realizing at the Lodge. And tons of multiple riding with EMH til 1am.
No lines at any standby anywhere. So for me having booked the no tiered FP+ our vacation rocked.
I can see how that would be a big change for you. Sorry for that.

Really good post! :thumbsup2

I'm definitely the first person you describe...and I was on board with the concept...until the tiers. I was looking forward to the upgrade, and now that's already been downgraded.

As others have said , good post, ans I generally agree with it. Except, I imagine that that first group of people, aren't really going to like fp+ either once its rolled out. The afternoon Fp+s are going to be the first to go, followed by evening, then morning. It is quite possible that people in that first group are going to go online to book and find there is no afternoon availability, only morning, and they may find themselves either having to wake up early to avoid standing in lines, or not using FP at all.

We actually are that first group, we like to sleep in and stroll into the park whenever, and since we have gone I feb and may, we have never had a problem pulling multiple fps. I hope that with the limitation on fps and low season we wont have much trouble booking what we want, I will be online 60 days ahead trying to do so, but I am sure other people trying to book closer to their dates, will be shut out.

All of this of course side steps one of the biggest issues for me, planning your rides 60 days out !!! we dont want to be locked in, we want to be able to change the order we are doing parks based on the weather, our mood, what we FEEL like that day. FP+ looks like it will absolutely destroy the spontaneity and flexibility of our trip, and I am really not looking forward to that.

Lol, I've given up even trying to 'get' this whole FP+ business...;) Anyways...

I don't think there's that much negativity on here. Just lots of strong opinions, which is a good thing to me as long as it doesn't cause fights. I'm a member on an American Girl forum-you should see the idiotic things my friends and I have had a fight about on there. (Doll hair, somebody having a Misunderstanding Alert, being ignored when threads simply weren't seen, somebody getting their own message board hacked(which did NOT happen; it was pretend), and a million other things.)
Debates are a good thing in my book as long as it doesn't turn into insulting the opposing party.

~Please nobody be offended by this; it's just one girl's opinions.~:)
