Cultural Exchange Program

My daughter starts June 13th in the Cultural Exchange Program for the summer. Hoping to get a quick trip in in August for a visit. She was crushed when Covid cancelled her plans to go in 2020 and I am so happy she is getting the opportunity to finally work for the Mouse!!

My DD auditioned for DCL recently and they selected her to go forward as Moana. Still no word on DCL but Shanghai got in touch with her and they are also interested. She is going to see the process through but at this point insists that she will decline going to Shanghai.....I think she's crazy but whatever.

Wait what,,,decline,,,this is where momma bear needs to step in and strongly explain what an opportunity that would be,,,Cheap paid experience in another world,,,yes scary for all,,,but what a growth experience
Now this is from someone who jumped at every chance to go and see parts of the world when a chance came while I was young....Started "real life" later but will push my girls to do the same.

LOL....I've tried. You'd have to know this kid to see what I'm up against. She has VERY strong opinions about a lot of things. Most of the time I'm so incredibly wrong. This is my punishment for all the wild things that I've done in my life. I have to hope that if they formally offer her something that she will be so excited that she will go for it. Although, I don't know if I would survive the stress of her being that far from home. When she went away to university the daily crying phone calls got me to the point that I would see her name on my phone and go....oh F it's her again.

BTW....I looked at the price of plane tickets to Shanghai holy moley. I guess we won't be visiting.

Congrats! My husband’s cousin did that programme and had a blast. And made a boatload of money in tips at LeCellier! Lol.

There is a YouTuber/Tik Toker that is a performer for Universal Studios Bejing - watch some of her vids - she is in a very cool "bubble" and it seems like it would be an amazing opportunity.

Dropped our daughter off on the 13th her roommate from Manitoba moved in later in day. I hope they all have the time of their lives! (and survive the heat!)

Good luck to her! I don't blame her for not wanting to go to Shanghai, the park is still closed and most of the city is still on lockdown. No way I'd go anywhere near China right now.
