If you are leaving on Friday I would make sure you get to the Stickal ? Edison bridge b4 3pm on Friday. If Saturday leave very very early from CT say about 6am. Its about 2 hours from new haven to linden,NJ . I know first hand. I work for Gulf and we have a terminal in New Haven. I work in Linden and it takes about 2 hours by truck each way. Do like they all say 95 to 287 over the Tappan Zee. I think the exit off 95 is right around Rye NY so just watch the signs. Make sure you gas up b4 you get to the Edison Bridge. All the rest areas/gas stations are packed after that with very long lines. Its hot hot hot down the shore so enjoy

OT - The Driscoll Bridge is the parkway bridge over the Raritan River. The Edison Bridge is the US9 Bridge over the Raritan River. The Stickle Memorial bridge is I-280 over the Passaic in Newark. The bridge known as the "Woodbridge Bridge" is the Outerbridge Crossing, not the Goethals.

Just reverse your route. Take the Parkway all the way north to the exit beyond 172. Then take I-287 East across the Tappan Zee and then either the Merritt Parkway or I-95 north to home.

Thanks.

We ended up getting on 287 around exit 100 on the Garden State pkwy (or a little further along). There was a sign saying the Garden State had a major delay from 141-157 or something like that and it said to take an alternate route. I think we should have caught 287 further along but didn't want to get stuck in a 15 exit delay! Then there was an accident on 287 with a camper trailer and jeep turned over so we sat for at least a half hour. All in all it was much better than the GWB and the Cross Bronx expressway!

Thanks again!
