Hi all!! I have been researching and loosely "planning" our first ever family vaca since Dec 09. Was planning to travel in Oct of this yr but now having a few issues that may have to move the trip. SO, I was wondering.....can anybody give me some advice as to the crowd differences btwn Oct vs May???? If I have to bump trip back I was looking at May 2011.

Hoping for crowd differences, any weather bites, etc etc btwn Oct vs May!!! Any info would help so thanks so much for reading and responding! Take care!:thumbsup2

Welcome from a fellow CT res. I'm in NH county. We have just planned a trip in OCT. It's the tail end of the hurricane season, but typically a bit slower in my opinion than May. In May, we usually go around Cinco De Mayo. It's been a while since we were there in the fall, and want to checkout the F&W and the Mickey halloween party. As far as the temps, I think they are pretty similar, it can be still really hot, but generally more tolerable than the dead of summer. Let me know how you make out.

Hi and welcome to the DISboards. I have been in both May and October. Usually mid-May and early October. If you avoid the weekend of and the week after Memorial Day and the week of Halloween, the crowds are very similar. Temperature-wise it is also similar BUT the humidity tends to be worse in October. We have easily enjoyed the water parks and swimming pools in both months and only pack shorts and tees for both of these times.

Good luck and Happy planning!

Another nutmegger here...

We went last October and not only were the crowds great but I loves seeing the Halloween decorations.

I have never been in May so I can't really offer helpful advice, just had to pop in and say hi :wave2:

Thanks everyone for the advice!! Sounds like either month may be great!! I'm having surgery in a few weeks and still hope to plan for Oct..before Halloween as I wanted to avoid those crowds....but not sure if I'll be up to it yet so that's why the possb bump to May.

Even though I'd hate to have to wait longer.......but I'm sure it will be worth it no matter when we end up going! Thanks again to you all!

Hey, I am in FFLD County!

Welcome...we are going in May for our first family vacation with our 2.5 year old and our 1.5 year old.

I hear it is nice then. I used to live in LBV and remember May being nice but not sure on the parks and how crowded they are.

Hi Tara!

I LOVE Disney in October! Our last trip was the week before Halloween week and we had spectacular weather and great crowd levels. It's so much fun to be there with the Halloween decorations and Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party! It was all very magical for us

I have been there in May and it was also beautiful. It was a bit hotter during our May trip and for me, that doesn't necessarily make it better. I prefer the cooler temps. We are going in February of 2011 for our next trip. It will definitely be on the cooler side, but I know it will be great...after all it's DISNEY!:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I hope your surgery goes well and that you don't have to push back your trip. Looking forward to the trip will hopefully help you heal quickly and completely!!

Happy planning and WELCOME!!!! :grouphug:

Thanks....I'm hoping not to have to wait myself since I've been planning it for sooooooo long now. But, I know that either way, like u said, it's Disney and we'll still have fun! I prefer the cooler temps myself. I guess we shall see!

I hope I heal quickly and things can progress and get there soon!! Can't wait to surprise the kids!

Ps. thank you all for the surgery well wishes! I appreciate it!
