Quite a few posts talk about how close some of the cabanas are to the main building, but looking at the map it looks like Casitas 1, 2, and 3 would be closer. I'll be there in Dec with my mom who will be in an ECV, so we won't be able to use the golf carts that come around and I would like to be as close as possible to the main building/restaraunts. We won't be using the pool, so the Dig site has no appeal to us. I also have a standard room booked and would prefer to not have a parking lot view, so was thinking about requesting Casitas 3, (plus I like the look of the Casitas). Cabanas also look nice though. To be closest to the main building, where should I request? Thanks!

I think many people like staying in the Cabanas because they are most centrally located to El Centro and the Dig Site. If you have no interest in the Dig Site I would opt for the Casitas. I think you have a covered walkway to El Centro from the Casitas also which would be a plus. The only downside I can imagine to the Casitas is that the conventioneers stay in that area so it may be more crowded and noisy etc.

You have selected an excellent location if you want to be close to the foodcourt and transportation. We stayed in that building this past June and loved the location. We did put in a special request because of a mobility challenging situation and were given a lake view for the price of a standard. Your going to love that resort.

We stayed in Casitas 1 back in March and absolutely loved it! It was close to El Centro and the main bus stop. There was a convention going on, but that usually makes it quieter than if the building is loaded with families with kids. They didn't present any problems whatsoever, and the busses were practically empty because they usually don't go to the parks. The only negative from the conventioneers is that the line at the food court (pepper market) in the morning was always quite long.

We loved the Cabanas. Our room was right on the front of the building and we could see the beach and had a wonderful hammock just outside (not ours personally but we managed to get it most evenings - bliss!)
The Casitas (which are right next to peppermarket etc but spread along one side of the lake so you might find your room further away from central area than perhaps a cabanas room in first building) are more like the city area with more floors to each building (3 or 4 not sure whereas the cabanas had 2 floors). When we went we did find more suits staying around Casitas due to near location to convention rooms but others on this site have also said they found business people all over the site.

The conventioneers do not stay only in the Casitas ... we were in Cabanas 8A, which are right next to where the Rancheros start, and our building was full of conventioneers!
