CSR - Was I missing something

Thanks, PortieOwner. They do have a meatless pizza. I'm hoping they'll make us some cool bean taco or something. It doesn't hurt to ask, right?

It's a beautiful resort. Its not as spread out as it seems either. we were exactly opposite the main pool when we stayed and the walk was about 10 minutes at a casual pace, if that. It is absolutely gorgeous at night too!!!!

It is a convention resort, so there will be a lot of business people around, but that never bothered me.

We stayed there the first year it was open. I was very uncomfortable with all the convention people (but again, it is a convention center). At that time they didn't have the internal shuttle and only a couple of bus stops so it was a long walk everywhere. But we did like the Pepper Market. We would probably stay there again with the changes they've made.

We LOVE CSR!! The grounds are amazing, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food court is the best you will find in WDW, awesome pools and wonderful bus service!!! Our favorite!!

Thanks for all the different opinions. You guys have helped me with so many things on my last two trips. I have enough time to make a decision. My next trip will not be until August 2006. So time will tell.

In all reality, I will probably stay at Pop again, because we really love this place, but maybe down the road CSR will be our next resort.

When dh and I visited CSR at the beginning of our May vacation (staying at AKL), I admit I was not excited by it. In fact, I believe I said something about this being the only WDW resort that really didn't interest me. Ironically, when we decided to extend our trip by a couple of days, 1 room at CSR was all that was available throughout the entire resort (Memorial weekend). We gave it a try and fell in love with this resort!!! Admittedly, I did not notice any obvious "business" travelers. However, I don't think that would bother me; since both dh and I frequently travel on business ourselves. Our room was fantastic, the view of the fountain and pool great, etc. I especially enjoyed the excellent room service menu...with much better prices than the deluxes!! Our 3 children liked the pool area every bit as much as at the deluxes -- better than AKL since it had been so very crowded that week.

We love, love, love this resort!!! I think it is so beautiful. Somehow the size and the fact that it is spread out a bit just adds to the beauty.

As for people walking around in business suits, etc. I really don't get why this is such a big deal for people. When we were there there were some people who where there for a convention, but I could care less... they were working and I was on vacation!!! I think those kind of things will bother you ONLY if you let them.

Just give the resort a ring and ask for the Pepper Market. You can talk to either a hostess or a cook there and find out what they will do.

I am a long, long way from being a vegetarian but it seems like WDW serves way too much meat and they serve meat in huge quantities. I guess that's what customers want.

Jeesh, like you don't see tons of families in shorts on cells all day long? At least all those suits with cells aren't hopping on and off buses and taking up space at the pool. Give me a bunch of suits on cell phones than cheerleaders running all over the place.

AT least Those suits on cell phones are not in a pack of 70+ coming toward you with their leader holding a yellow flag and run your children over, chanting some song as they do the walk by mow over !! Now this really burns my rear !

The LAST thing i want to be reminded of on vacation is work! I can deal but would rather not; at disney, i want total disney magic from the moment i wake up to the moment i fall asleep.

Which is another reason i love the Values ~ the other resorts are lovely, but could be located anywhere else on the face of the earth!

In Disney, i want total Disney!

I had the complete opposite experience in July. It was the families that would talk on their cellphones RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR ROOM at night. The icing on the cake was this woman who decided it was okay to talk loudly on her cellphone and smoke outside our non-smoking room. Charming. At least the conventioners I saw were normally in El Centro using their cell phones thus not disturbing my sleep.

Edited to add: Before anyone says its because she couldn't get reception indoors, I highly doubt it. My Canadian cell phone roams big time in Florida and had no trouble calling home from within my CSR hotel room.

Business people just don't bother me. Even the ones staying at CSR last week--smokey, high-pressure jewelry salesmen--were no problem. I don't work in a typical business environment--I work at a university and even if I dress like I am on a Florida vacation at work (shorts, t-shirt, flipflops) I am still better dressed than half of the professors.

The only thing that bothers me about business people is knowing they are (probably) there for free!
