We are debating between CSR and WL. It will be in Sept...2A and 1 5 yo boy.

We usually don't spend tons of time in our room, but we do want comfortable beds/mattresses and fun theming!

I was pretty set on WL but have discovered CSR and think it might be a good compromise between deluxe and moderate. I'm NOT willing to spend more $$ than WL!

Any thoughts or opinions?

Our family votes for CSR all the way. The place is beautiful. I am sure you 5y old will love their pool the dig site. The beds are very comfortable. Transportation was great. We drove down and just parked the car and rode the bus. Wait was never long. We were in the Casitas near a quite pool and the first bus stop. We are going back again in May...:banana::banana:

recently stayed at the WL and the lobby/theming there is great!! Beds were comfy and the proximity to MK was great!! The boat was a nice from the busses (to get to MK and CR) however it was super cold when I was there so used the busses instead...it's only a two minute bus ride ...great for those wanting to come back and take a nap in the pm

I would go with the Wilderness Lodge because in my opinion they have a much better overall location, better theme, more transportation options, bigger rooms and all their rooms are located in one main building. When I went to visit CSR I thought their various room buildings were spread out way to much.

Between the 2 you are looking at, I'd choose the WL. I prefer the deluxe resorts because of the room layouts with the private balcony (instead of the motel-style layout of the mods where people walk by your window). Also, I think that the WL is beautiful, the location better, and the views of the lake are really nice.

From the WL, you can boat to the CR, get on the monorail, and have access to all the restaurants at the CR, Poly, and GF.

We love the CSR (we've stayed eight times); we've not stayed at the WL and have absolutely no desire to (don't get me wrong, it's beautifully done--but we don't care for the theme, the food and the rude CM's when we visited twice--one who lied to us). We prefer the "walking outside" as opposed to walking down an "indoor corridor"...we're in Florida and want to enjoy being outside as much as we can and we find it much quieter than interior hallways where we have always had kids running up and down the halls at all hours of the night.

I'm sure whichever one you choose you will have a grand time.

CSR did nothing for us, won't stay there again due to many reason other posters have mentioned. We go by location, and the WL is located in the MK area, has a great theme, easy boat access to MK, FW, CR for tons of eating, shopping and lounging. We've done over 10 stays here and never had any bad CM's, bus transportation has been the best. We've done alot of trips to WDW (43) and for our bottom dollar, comfort, nothing beats the WL.

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure it helped me make my decision, but it did help me make a pro/con list of each! :lmao:

We were 100% satisfied at CSR. The rooms are newly refurbished and you'll have comfy beds. The room experience is high-end moderate, judging from the research we did last year. The resort itself is large, but we liked the theming (probably not as "Disney" as some, but still a special resort). We had easy access to the Dig Site pool and a quiet pool, which our girls loved; they actually wanted to skip the parks one day and just swim. We had our car, so we never tried the bus service, but it looked regular and uncrowded every time we were out and about. We found travel times to each park very short and hassle-free. DTD was a bit farther, but I would guess each resort area has pros and cons on location.
WL looks very nice, but it costs more, and we look at a hotel as a place to spend the night. We want a clean, quiet, and comfortable room for not too much money, and CSR fits that bill for those who want to stay in the World. You probably can't make a bad choice between WL and CSR; with Coronado, we feel like we had the full Disney experience for a value price.

:rotfl: These decisions are hard! Have you looked at the WL thread and the CSR thread? Sometimes looking at the photos can really help you decide which one appeals to you more, especially in this case where the themes are so different from one another.;)

We have stayed at both CSR and WL (CSR this month, and WL in Jan 2009), and I would 100% go for WL. CSR is very nice - the theming is beautiful, the pool is great, and there are some good restaurant choices. However, WL is fantastic - I love being only a quick walk through the corridors to the pool and restaurants. The theming is wondering - from the lobby to the pool area to the geysers. And the best part? The boat ride to MK and the Contemporary! It just feels so quick and convenient and magical. Don't get me wrong.... we had no problems with the buses at CSR, but it was just so nice to have the quick boat ride as an option - we spent much more time at MK than we usually do, just for that reason.

Also, I didn't believe the stories about the CSR conventioneers until I stayed there during an auto parts convention. It was awful! There were crowds of drunk men clustering around in all public areas at night, swearing and smoking and yelling at each other. :scared1: Some of the men made suggestive comments to me - I was traveling alone for the first part of the trip (I was there to run The Goofy on marathon weekend - my husband joined me later in the week to run the marathon) and I did not feel comfortable going to fill up my refillable mug at night while the conventioneers were out drinking. This was not indicative of the other conventions that were also at CSR at the same time, but it definitely soured my view of the resort - it only takes one bad big group of conventioneers to make the resort very uncomfortable. I wouldn't take the chance of getting a group like this on your vacation.
